I own a K800i and have been looking @ the spec of the K810. Apart form the asthetics and a few other little things, it seems much the same as the K800i.
Have Sony Ericsson just copied their own phone and re-packaged it to quickly as poss get over the mistake they made with the K800i? Damage limitation, I think thats what they call it...
Take a look, it's near on the same... http://www.esato.com/phones/index.php/phone=221,cp=271 |

K800i isn't a mistake, it's a good phone, neither I, nor my husband had any problems with ours.
It's a fact, that people with complaints post these and ask for solutions to their problems, but you'll read a lot less from those, who are happy with their phones. Reviews are only interesting, when the phone is new, so what should an owner write about, when he doesn't have anything to complain ?
A new version, six or eight months after the "old" one, isn't called "damage limitation", it's called marketing. SE has done this before : W810i came on the market, eight months after W800i.
Nokia and Samsung also have different models based on the same phone and they are very succesful with them.

Agree with Marly. Personally I love the k810i, I think it's better than the k800i in the looks department. |

I quite AGREE with Lo-couk here. There are really some fones (usually in succeeding-series models) that are ALMOST the same in specs and all . . . a very good candidates for this is the T610 and T630 . . . in Nokia, the 6230 and 6230i (only the MP on camera was NEW: vga to 1 MP) . . . .

@decay - That's what you CALL . . . marketing-strategy mate It's up to the BUYER if they will buy one Another classic example is 's P-series fones . . . P800 - P900 - P910i and P990 . . . it should have been: P800 - P910i - P990 (no more P900) . . .

The difference is really in looks and slightly different dimensions (thinner). The K810 does have photo lights for the keypad and an extra photofix application.
And it looks a lot better than the K800

The K810i is what I'd call a makeover which is allowed isn't it?
All SE have done is improve a phone that was a very successful product for them (although I know the keypad might be the exception for some.), so I'd hardly call the K800i a mistake.

K810i is just the K800i with new design: http://www.sefanatics.com/son[....]d-i-upgrade-my-k800i-to-k810i/ |

K800i firmware support will stop as soon as K810i is out. R1JG001 may be the final f/w, with final 2.5 camera driver. Then, K810i will have further f/w development, which is likely in terms of its camera/Cyber-shot function. Just my thought, anyway..it may be wrong. K800i is a success by SE, and it's OK to release its sibling. It's up to us to get it or not. I may get it as well, but time will tell. So far, I'm very satisfied with my K800i. If K810i provides better camera shot, better stability and better features, why not,then? |

K810i is just a slightly improved K800i, like T630 compared to T610, W810 compared to W800, etc. If Iwere to bui a new one, I would choose K810i instead of K800i, since it's a slightly newer model, but since I already own a K800i, the difference does not motivate a purchase of a K810i. As with previous upgraded models (K750/W800) it might maybe be possible to upgrade the firmware in the K800i to K810i in a near future, who knows?
The major difference, though, in my opinion, is the improved design of the lens cover, which probably is not as easily opened by mistake on the K810. |

The biggest difference is in the end INSIDE the phones, or at least shld be. But do hope that k810's keypad & joystick are much better than k800's, which are a disaster & abt to give SE a bad name! O'wise we've been "in a booring trend" quite long now, with "follow up"-models looking VERY MUCH the same as the previous ones! Especially SE has this policy. BUT after all, MANY of their competitors have began to DO THE SAME, and also RELEASING MODELS that MANY TIMES are very much "SE-look-alike" - so../Matt
