I have old Virgin Mobile (UK) SIM from 2000. It works fine, but I noticed, it takes a long time to boot on my SE Z520i & Z610i when I insert my SIM. Is it because it's an old SIM? It's not the phone, because it boots up normally with my other newer Virgin SIMs and other SIMs (have tried O2, Orange, T-mobile & Vodafone UK SIMs).

Is old SIMs slow???
(The old Virgin SIM boots up fast on T68i & Z200, and my other older phones)

older sim cards are 5 volts whereas newer phones are designed to accept the newer 3 volt SIM card, so you probably will find problems when using an old sim in a new phone

@quaver - Yup, better have your OLD sim replaced . . . a friend of mine experienced the same thing . . . he got a 7 year old SIM inserted in a NEW fone . . . he's experiencing some problems at times, and when he had the SIM replaced . . . everything went OK [addsig]

I can relate I too have a sim card from 2000 and whenever I insert it in any phone old or new it takes forever to pick up signal.

And when I try to access my messages it says "sim card not ready" for awhile or it takes forever to bring up my contacts.

I would get a replacement sim but tell myself any new sim I get must be one with a new number and I am not quite ready to change my sim as yet.
