Looking for "just a phone" (Part II) - HelloMoto? |

I love phones. My T616, T637, and W810 have served me extremely well. (My S710a... not so much.) But the W810 is now too much phone for me. My new iPod Nano trounces the application, and I never, ever cared about cameras in phones. (Really, how many Kodak cat moments do I need to capture?) And really doesn't offer "just a phone" in an attractive package.
As much as I dread their UI, Address Book, and , it looks like I'm heading back to Motorola. It seems no one does "just a phone" better - great call and audio quality, compact and attractive designs, non-proprietary cables and memory cards (something will never understand), and low prices.
I'm trying to decide between the SLVR L7e, RIZR Z3, or KRZR K1. Spec-wise, they're nearly the same phone, and are priced similarly to each other. The SLVR comes in my favorite form factor, but it's the least attractive of the three. The KRZR is hot, but I dislike clamshell phones. Also, before long, everyone, his brother, and their dog will have a KRZR, if does nearly as well as the RAZR. The RIZR seems neat, and I'm willing to give the slider design a go, but something about that phone just doesn't sit well with me.
Anyone have any feedback on these choices? Also, is there anything from Nokia I should consider? I'm in the USA, where 850 MHz and 1900 MHz bands are imperative, and 2100 MHz 3G is pointless.

I would choose the SLVR, in fact, I HAVE a SLVR, the L7i , which is the i-mode version, with the same 1.3 mp cam as the new L7e (the "old" SLVR has a VGA-cam).
It's an attractive phone, when you have it in your hands : slim, black, metal .
The KRZR is "flashier", just as the RAZR was (and still is), but I think you're right : in a while "everyone" will have it.
Also clamshells and sliders are more vulnerable then the classic bar-type. With their two moving parts they often have problems with the flat-cable.
I've seen this problems more in Samsungs than in Motorolas, though.
The SLVR L7e is a quad-band phone, so you'll have no problems with US-networks.

What's the difference between L7e, L7i, and L71? I believe it has to do with languages, in the software and/or on the keypad "e" for English, "i" for international, "1" for SE Asia, based on Internet rumor.

I'm from the Netherlands and in my country the "i" in the L7i stands for "i-mode", an internet service, originally from Japan, but now also available in other countries, when there's a network, that has the license to provide it. These i-mode phones have slightly different software and a different (i-mode) browser.
So this is not the same as the "i" on SE phones, where this "i" indeed stands for "international". For this reason i-mode SE's have the affix "im", as in K610im.
Back to the Moto now, we know here L7, L7i and L7e, the L7 being the "old" model and the L7e the new one, with only e few changes in the software, but a better cam.
As you're used to the superb cam of your SE W810i, you should choose the L7e with 1.3 mp cam, a VGA-cam as in the L7, would be too big a disappointment, even if you don't use it often.
My L7i is between those two, it has branded software, based on the L7, but the better cam of the L7e.

I'm also thinking about a Nokia E50.
I'm 50% sure I'm not getting a Moto. My wife's RAZR reminds me how much I hate the UI, address book, and crippled Bluetooth
