Machanic you are a legend! My K800i became a brick after I tried to sync contacts with my PC using the SE PC Suite. It was dead dead, nothing on power up, no lights nothing. Anyway I tried your post and it sorted it just fine. Thanks a million.

I had a small problem with the drivers, I thought you meant the standard phone drivers had to be on the pc - which I knew were. Instead, it's the usb flash device drivers. The only way I could get them installed was to install the SE Update Service off their site ( http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]1&pid=10407&fid=21839&esi=true ) , and the PC needed a reboot after the install, and only then did the drivers install (Not at the beginning like it was supposed to according to SE) . Anyhow, once they were on it all worked fine, the WotanClient reported:

EPROM: starting upgrade
EPROM: done
== FINISHED OK ==
I was worried that my phone might revert back to being locked to 3, but it was still unlocked too!

Thanks again.

Hi - Could anyone please help me out with my problem below?

Thanks in advance...
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi All - I have a K800i. I think I have a dead battery (got it from eBay for $1.99) . Please see the pics below. When my phone is turned off and I am charging it. It shows that the battery is charging via "Charging" indicator on the screen. (There is no red light near the Infrared port on the phone when PHONE is OFF and "Charging"). Btw, the screen shutsoff when charging and when i press "C" it comes back again. Is this by nature of SE K800i ?

Now when I turn on the phone it turns on for few seconds and turns off with a "steady" red light near the Infrared Port. (Pls. note that the light is not flashing! but just steady red color) Does that indicate that the battery is low? or exhausted? or is it the firmware ROM?

I think the fake battery (pictures above) doesn't seem to charge, then why does the Screen show "charging" when the phone is in OFF.

Btw does those batteries (figure above) look fake? Its seems to me that actuall the batteries are exhausted and is not charging.

Please advice.

Thank you,

- webchetan

As I have said before nothing is deleted at all and no one has reported it.
If you get a Red Flashing Light then this will work.

Hope this helps

EDIT: I need to put this is PDF ASAP

Hey, Just happened to me this morning too when i turned the phone off when the alarm was going off on it. When using Wotan do I press keys 2 and 5 on the phone keyboard or the 'c' button like the software suggests? Is there any indication in Wotan that it has found the phone?

Regards

I already flashed my w880i with R1KC001 CID52 and thought to give this 2 and 5 trick, unfortunately it doesn't work.

PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

I tried every possible ways to reflash my k800i dead phone and still it does not work. There is no flashing LED. The phone just does not turn on.

When I plugged in the USB cable that came with the phone to the PC, it does not recognize the phone. I have my phone battery fully charged. Reinstalled the sony PC suite on 3 different computers and tried the Wotan software on 3 different computers. Still the PC did not recognize my phone.

When I tried plugging in my other k750i, every single computer I used recognized this k750i, but not the k800i.

It is still a mystery why some phone is not recognised by wotan. Your only option may be authorised service centre.
Wotan client will show your phone model and other info if it recognised your phone. If the screen remain blank the it still trying to negotiate conversation with your phone.

Some newer phones such as the new W phones may not be able to upgrade the EROM.

You have to press 2 & 5 together for it to work

Hi,

I'm having this problem as well. I have left the phone off for a while, and now it won't switch back on at all.

The red LED light for infra red flashes however when attempting to switch the phone on or charge it up.

I have tried to update it using Wotan as outlined in this thread, but to no avail. The problem I am having is getting the computer to recognise the device properly in the first place. I have installed PC Suite and all the necessary drivers, and when it attempts to connect, the computer prompts me to install a USB Flash driver... My other K800 phone is working fine with the same PC and PC Suite software however?

I would be grateful for any assistance. Is shorting the internal battery recommended or not?

Thanks

I just did this, and although the update thing would not work with the C button pressed down, I instead tried 2 and 5 this time round and it installed the drivers and everything. After this point, started up Wotan and fixed the thing myself.

RESULT!!! Cheers to the author of this thread, much appreciated!!!

Ah, it may shed some light here. Seems that most phone that is not recognised have not install USB flash driver (first time user of wotan/kulan client).
Installing USB flash driver in wotan/kulan needs the phone to be connected with pressing C (then the USB will pop up and ask whether they want to install USB flash driver). However I installed recent SEUS and observe that it will install USB flash driver anyway after you install it (not require the phone to be connected first with C pressed).
All those who fail to get the phone recognised seem that it has not install USB flash driver properly and trying SEUS first may help.

Hi,

I thought it was time someone posted a FAQ on how to fix a dead K800i. This is because there are over 100's of threads about dead K800i's.

The fix:

Equipment:

USB Cable (Provided in the box)
Your dead K800i
Computer
USB Ports
...and some software

Instructions:

1. First remove your SIM CARD and Memory Sticks from the phone.
2. Put the battery back in and DO NOT TURN IT ON.
3. Now if you have used your K800i with your PC before then you will not need to install the drivers. If you haven't used it before, then get the PC Suite disc and install the drivers manually by browsing the disc.
EDIT: If that doesn't help please install SEUS from this link http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]1&pid=10407&fid=21839&esi=true , Make sure you don''t update your firmware until you have fixed the phone
4. Now you need to click on this link and press download and save it to your desktop. http://www.wotanserver.com/su[....]=viewdownload&downloaditemid=1
5. After it has downloaded then go to your desktop and open the file up.
6. It will start to update, DO NOT CANCEL IT.
7. On the bottom-right hand side corner there will be a login box. Make sure there are blank before you start otherwise it won't work.
8. Once the update has finished. plug the USB into the computer and NOT THE PHONE.
9. Press start in Wotan
10. Press 2 and 5 simulatenously and plug your phone in.
11. Let it finish

Take out the battery for a few minutes and then put it back in

Now you can enjoy your fixed K800i

Suggestion:
NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE
If you are very scared of updating your EROM then you can try shorting the battery connector (NOT THE BATTERY ITSELF) in the phone using a spoon.
It may work or it may not

P.S Hope it becomes a sticky
