I hardly post, mostly just reads, but heres my contribution nonetheless. do note that I do not see the need for Tweak Peaks and SMP anymore and hence did not install either:
Got it through a fellow my-symbian's member who has access to EMMAIII.

Dunno if this helps, but there you go....
Oh and the Landscape (normal) mode in camera WORKS!!
Finally (and ironically) the P990i feels like a P910 again. Good things comes to those who waits... and waits... and waits...

He did not talk everything yet, but he and other guy that have the fw are raving about it...opera is stable and apps load faster! One more thing...never heard of service centers asking money for updating...its free under warranty at least

Opera Mini is also super fast and stable on R5.
remember how it used to take awhile before you actually see the JAVA Logo when loading Opera Mini? Now the Java Logo pops up almost instantaneously as soon as you click on any Java app. |

same opera version makes sense, even if they change some things on it...next opera mobile version should be the mega opera mobile 9  |

Can you check if there has been implemented shortcuts in the opera browser??
becasue on r9 if you use opera mini to download itself and then it closes, then you got shortcuts in the regular browser..

im a new poster but have been reading esato for a while now. i dont think ive ever felt so much tension for a new firmware. i hope r5 lives up to the hopes. it does sound like the p990 may finally be living up to the 2005 hype. maybe se needs a re-launch now heh heh |

If SE wouldn't be that crappy they would have at least released the new fw before Easter.... as a little making up for all the troubles....... but of course nooooot!

transitions is the animation you see when you scroll through menus, like the smooth shifting between menus, and the fading pop-up menus and so on. BOTTOM LINE: the visual effects of the menus.
Of course they make the phone slower, now that SE provided the possibility to turn them off to make navigation through menus alittle faster.

Opera build "513" !! we currently have build "405", so hopefully this update will also get rid of all those kern-exec errors with Opera. Looks like this update may well be worth waiting for. Funny though, the Opera logo seems to have been simplified to just a plain text word, no more color Opera logo. So was that the culprit ?

Oh man, why did I not take the day off from work yesterday. That way I would have had that new f/w on my phone now. Oh, it just sucks right now. Atleast I know I will have it on tuesday latest. But thats not the point, I want it NOW. As all of us wants. Please SE, please please surprise us big, THIS weekend
