So guys tell me does anyone already use the commercial version of vista on their pc? If so tell us your opinions, thoughts and general views on the whole Windows Vista hype.
I for one will hold off till at least the third quarter of this year to get an upgrade. Hopefully by then the primary obvious flaws will be fixed...
*It could be fun and constructive, if you are already running Vista, to give us your PC's specs.

I've been running Vista Ultimate edition for over a fortnight now..perks of the job. It has a nice glossy feel...great ui...provided you are running it on a machine with solid specs.. ( I'm using an HP Pavilion.. 2 ghz processor, 128 mb vid ram...2 gb ram, 80 gb hdd) The only grouse I have is the annoying permission prompts that keep popping up every now & then... haven't tried any of my favourite games yet...will do so over the weekend and post a more detailed report

my advise; stay away from it
system requirements are way too high, i realy dislike the look-'n-feel of the os. i'm having trouble changing the system, some options are hidden/removed
xp does the job well, and works much faster

Installed Vista Home Pemium 64bit on an Acer Laptop, everything went ok, but needed to download the audio diver and card reader driver from their website. No crashes yet, seems to be very stable, though the 64bit browser has problems with flash sites. Adobe are working on a 64bit version, but you can just load the 32bit IE.

For all of you thinking on upgrading your PC to vista here is a helpfull link.

Its a system test from ati and AMD. This is a legitimate test that checks your processor, ram, graphics and other software and hardware required to run Vista.
Mind you i did the test and for the highest settings I need a 256 mb card. To me thats a rather stupid requirement because I've got a 128mb gddr3 256 bit card which in benchmarks and some games whips the Bytes out of 256mb and even higher spec cards.
But on the other hand im soo curious how the OS works, and no i have never downloaded the beta versions. I think its shopping time:).... Damn you Microsoft so evil yet so sexy at the same time.

My laptop and pc are both decent specs and are capable of handling vista so I'm not at all worried.
Whats the difference between 64bit and 32bit though? |
