Well, i've finally had enough of my Orange Branding and having to wait to be able to update via SEUS. I'm sending my P990 to seunlock.co.uk to have it bebranded, i'll let you all know how it goes and if it was worth it!

He's having the phone unbranded, not unlocked.
Unbranding involves installing a generic firmware without operator rubbish which slows the phone down and generally annoys you!

Sometimes networks may not give you an unlock code straightaway for your handset, incase asking you to wait xx months before they provide it. I think 3 are quite strict in this respect.

Personally, I wouldn't mind paying a few £'s more if I were in this situation. Also, £15 is T-Mobile's unlock charge, other networks charge more than this, so that's another reason.

The networks generally won't unlock your phone until you've seen out your minimum period if you're on contract. Personally i'd rather pay someone like seunlock than the greedy networks if i did decide to unlock my phone! Any way this is an exercise in getting the phone back to the way SE intended. Just to get rid of the Orange home screen and have a working RSS reader will be enough, bring on my fresh phone!

You're right the networks wouldn't debrand, only unlock.
seunlock do do a combined unlock/debrand which i think is pretty good value. I'm staying with Orange so no need to worry about an unlock.

One good thing about getting someone else other than the network to unlock your phone is that you don't need to sit on hold for an hour just to request it!
