Weird Alarm issue with P990 - Help me before I become single. |

Firstly, Apologies if this has been addressed somewhere else. I have spent the past 20 mins searching through this site.
I appreciate that one mans bug is the next mans feature, But... the alarm on my P990 has started to play silly buggers. I sometimes have to get up for work at 05:15am, so set my alarm for that time. I them change the time to say 7:00am when I have to get up later. However this week (When I haven't had an early start) it has gone off at 5:15, 5:30, 5:50, 7:00, 7:15 and 9:00. I have realised that these are the times that have been set at one time or another. It doesn't matter if I deselect all alarms, it still goes off. As you can imagine, my Mrs is not a happy bunny. She's not a morning person at the best of times and has promised to throw it out of the window if it goes off again tomorrow morning - thus rendering me single as I'd be forced to send her after it.
Has anyone had this issue? or got any idea what is causing this?
Just read about Coxxy debranding the P990, so may be sending it his way, especially if it fixes this ‘feature’.

Yeah, let her throw the junk out of the window and use the occassion to get yourself a N95. :) alarm should be ok, but in any case, configure it as a server and if she hides this phone away (you'll be so fascinated by the s60 OS, your lady won't see you much anymore) then just go on the net and find out where it is by looking at the gps coordinates :D.

I think i'll have the battery out tonight, and then do that tomorrow on work time .
Thanks for the help though.
SE are really getting on my tits with this phone... I loved the P900 and P910 to some extent - but this one is really pissing me off!!
Thanks again,
J

IDEA, until u find a solution, why not set a reminder in the calender menu as your alarm.
My alarm works fine on my P990 but i often do an alarmed reminder as backup anyway when i have an important gtting up time.

I don't have a problem with the alarm not going off when it should be... I have a problem with the alarm going off when it shouldn't be...
I.E 5:15 in the morning when I don't need to be up until 7:00.... But thanks for the feed back...

Oh sorry, you mean even if you dont set an alarm at all in the clock menu , it still goes off.
What confuses me is that some P990's on say a particular firmware are fine & other seem to be corrupted with all sorts of weird probs its a bit worrying that can happen.

i have something similar with a w950i, in that an alarm was set, but phone gave no indication so it couldn't be turned off.
Got phone changed once and did a full restore - same issue
so did a full backup, did a master reset, did a restore EXCEPT the settings and no problems after that. |

. . . and Mario 2004 (are you still in 2004 ) pitches in to say something not so nice about the P990i and, on his way out, happens to "mention" the N95! Greetings, Mario.
My P990i, not yet updated (just lazy) is fine doing the following:
- No alarm problems, two set for 5 workdays, one set for Tuesdays.
- No memory issues, SwissMan set to exit apps on idle with exceptions set for Web and Opera Mini. I stopped worrying about my RAM a long time ago!
- Camera, media player, radio, and not enough wifi (unlimited 3G) just fine, thank you.
- Connecting through my PowerBook over BT, 3G is an eye opener! Seamless and hassle-free fast internet everywhere!
I don't know what or where or even why people are having all these problems. I'm just glad I have an awesome device that works as expected.
I also don't know if I'm still in a good mood to spend more time for a lengthier response ... Nah, I'll just take the kids out for a bite.

I don't have that many problems with the P990... just when I do I get pissed off. I have no doubt that some or even most are down to the Orange flavour of the phone... which is an issue I am going to get sorted out sooner rather than later...
I just wish I had no issues with it...

Ahha! The dreadful "those we do not mention" comes again.
Orange branding is probably the number one source of all P990i problems. I do not have one, but certainly do not intend to buy any branded mobile. It's just too much of a hassle. |

@stiltzkin have you double-checked if you have any recurrent alarms set? just a thought, i know it's easy to overlook these things when you're at wits end trying to figure things out
