I had alot of problems trying to update my W950i and my solution was that I selected the normal use with USB and I had the cd, the cd with SE PC suite on it, in the cdrom and that solved my problem. I canīt say that it will work for every one.

Hi. Can anyone document how to use KulanKendi to debrand the w950i? I'm interested but apprehensive, would like to know how successful it is as the w950 s my only phone at the moment and I can't do without it if things go wrong. Thanks.

All, I have a problem with my W950i after upgrading to the newest firmware.

Before carrying out the process i backed up the full phone contents using pc suite, and proceeded to update via update service.

This seemed to install fine, so after this i restored the backup made just before updating. Now everytime i turn the phone on it hangs on the white screen with orange walkman writing on it, after you are given the choice of turning the phone on/switching to flight mode.

Anyone had this before, and know what to do? It could well be that it doesnt like the backup, even though it said it was fine when carried out.

I have to say if this is what Sony Ericssons backup/restore feature is like, it doesnt breed me with alot of confidence to use again. And if my phone does not work after restoring with the update again, i wont be happy at all.

I have faced the same problem. Luckily, I have taken a back-up without any 3rd party software initially. So I have run SEUS again and then installed only the contacts. Seems to be that certain 3rd party programs are not compatible, I donot know which one.
Try to install only contacts only except reflushing

@ajaychavda

Have you got any 3rd party software on the phone?? I had this problem before and i think it was to do with swiss manager. Try ringing your phone from a landline as that always seemed to bring mine out of this white screen hang issue. Once i'd uninstalled the offending prog it seemed to fix it.

I think the trial had expired but the phone kept trying to run it at startup.

Good luck

Been trying it once or twice each week but still the same dam loop. I don't have any 3rd party apps installed. I have this problem where audio from the walkman stuffs up i.e no audio at all and when I try to transfer it between head phones and speaker I get the "no ongoing audio" message. With bluetooth its even worse. When all these start happening, my the phone app fails as well.

For those who did a backup whether full or not, try no to restore your "Settings". In R9EC, the "Settings" of the previous firmware is not compatible it seems. The Walkman logo at startup will freeze forever.

Not sure about 3rd party application but confirm the "Settings" will cause such freeze and probably only applicable for certain CDA it seems. Those that have such problem, reflash your device and reinput manually.

You guys should have a backup of your contact in the 4GB. Restore it.
For "Notes", you can restore from the SmartSuite as it will not give any problem. For 3rd party application, reinstall it from the "Application Launcher" to be save even though some reported they can.

Fyi, there is an upgrade of QuickOffice from v3.6.55 to v3.6.57. However, QuickOffice support has yet to release the upgrade for W950i. Those that are using QuickOffice, you may encounter that after flashing the new firmware and reinstall QuickOffice v3.6.55, your HELP menu in W950i could be blank. It will say "Topic not in database." This is because QuickOffice share the same HELP directory but somehow SE enhanced it that causes QuickOffice lost the whole lot of HELP content. In terms of functionality, NO PROBLEM reported.

The upgrade was reflected in P990i and M600i.
(As I always say, why SE didn't add W950i to have Office application? Then we as user wouldn't need to go through such hassle.)

That's all for the update.
