The Great T630 to P990i/W950i Experiment 2! |

I've decided to have another go at turning a cheap phone into an expensive phone, just by trading and repairing damaged ones. For those that remember my first thread, I started out with a T68i, and managed to turn it into an XDA 2S which I bought for £140, I'm going to have another go to see if I can repeat my success!
Edit: Here are the pictures of my first phone, a T630:
Please excuse the rather wishy washy title for the thread, I currently don't have a 'starter' phone, so I'm looking for a phone for about £10 or so, preferably working, or if it is faulty to have some sort of hardware problem like a broken screen. I still have almost no software fixing skills, I'm being a bit of a luddite there, have heard too many horror stories of people killing their phones. I also can't do any soldering jobs as I don't have the experience or tools for that, so no faulty joysticks or missing power buttons.
Now have my T630 starter phone for £12 delivered coming, hopefully will turn a profit and allow me to get a better phone, and so on and so fourth!
I am going to try to keep people a bit more up to date this time, posting pictures of the phones I get through, and what I've bought the phone for, and what I've sold it for, how much profit (or loss) I've made, and any problems or hiccups I come across.
I'll also start a 'wanted' thread in the market section for when I'm after phones (which will be my next task). I'm hoping to do as much buying from here as I can, then selling the phones on Ebay, unless any Esatonian desperately wants the phone and offers a good price.
Well, I'll either get a nice phone out of this or fail miserably, the most I'd lose will hopefully be £10 or so, so here goes!

Right, I have my first phone! It's a Sony Ericsson T630 that needs it's charging port looking at and probably a new facia. Got it for £12, boxed with everything except charger, though I think I've got a spare one lying about somewhere hopefully!
Hopefully the charging port problem can be fixed by taking the phone apart and giving it a damn good clean. Haven't got the phone yet, but will stick a picture up when I get it!

Good luck!
I don't know how the heck you will install Symbian in a T630, but if you manage to do it, make sure you post how you did it, because I also have a T630 and maybe I could turn it into something more useful |

I'm not talking about literally turning a T630 into something like a P990, just through the process of buying/selling phones and hopefully trading up to a new phone
That's the theory anyway, it worked once, be interesting to see if I can repeat the success!

Good luck with it again!
I reckon you'll make it eventually, but it won't be easy

Yes, it won't be easy! I managed very well last time, but I think I was lucky not to hit any serious snags - the number of times I've fixed a phone's screen then found out it was blocked, had a serious software problem, or something else. Though I can usually sell the phone on again as faulty and normally got my money back at least.
Will hopefully recieve the T630 on Wednesday, can stick a picture up of my first phone in the chain then, and hopefully fix it!
