@Miss UK

May 2009 is a life time away in mobile tech as things evolve so fast there will be devices by May 2008 that will make the N95 8GB be outdated. As next Year we will start to see the OMAP Series 3 chip start being used with all the improvements that will bring, in fact i doubt you will even be able to find a N95 8GB by May 2009.

Boba, Maybe Nokia will introduce a new Series by May 2009

I did here that 8MP phones will be launched next year btw,
Motorola are bringing something out apparentley

I think the N95's will be around 2009 still they prob be on PAYG dead cheap too if Nokia allows that !

Vodafone let you do trade-ins on your old phone so I read I think they give you £100 for your handset

they can have my E65 if the case

Hi Boba,

I believe there is a new E61 type device due next year that will have HSDPA and GPS no idea which processor it will have but i would imagine at least the OMAP 2420 or possibly even the OMAP Series 3 chip and would guess also an increase to 128mb Ram. This devcie will definitely be of interest to me as i love the format and functionality this devcie brings and an improved spec version may well tempt me.

I am of course i am interested to see just what the touch UI will also deliver but personally am not sure i want to return to a touchscreen device or not but don't think there will be a newer version of the E90 anytime soon but do believe the the E90 will also get Demand paging in the next update as the Flagship E series device i would be very surprised if it doesn't get this.

Although i am more than happy with my N95 8GB and SU-8W combo i do fancy returning to the E90 due to the large internal screen especially for watching films and Video's along with the better web browsing it brings. Having had one before i really didn't find it to big or heavy and the additional options for home screen plug ins really are an advantage. Also since starting to use Seven all ways on push E-Mail this is now something else i would like to keep on using even if it is no longer free and will require a subscription i really feel it is worth the small cost involved as it really is a great app IMO as was so easy to set up and just works so well even on the N95 8GB.

One of the other killer apps of this year i feel is also em Tube that again just works so well including the use of the accelometer with auto rotation into landscape mode without the need to self sign it. I am also very interested to see what other services OVI brings to our devcies. I really do believe with the increased processors and graphics and faster HSDPA the Internet on our devcies is set to reach new levels and a greatly improved user Internet experience exciting times ahead IMO and one that Nokia still seems to be leading the way in.

This last 18months for me and my move to S60 has been a very satisfying experience and one i feel will continue to improve the other manufacturers have a lot to catch up with and equal never mind surpass but i wouldn't rule out another OS or devcie if this is achieved but it really will need to be something pretty special move me away from S60 which is currently my OS of choice.

Marc

it would turn off if left for long periods without being on,
or when I first switched it on it would then go off..

maybe the phone was cold

so far so good with the new update anyway

Hi Boba

Whilst i still had my E61 it is the only devcie that i could run Tom Tom on without the need to plug in a in car charger and still have plenty of battery left at the end of a journey in both directions. As you know the 1500aMh Li-Polymer battery on the E61 just goes on for ever and is one of the best that gives one of the best battery lifes i have ever experienced from any any smart phone. It can even give a dumb phone a run for longevity IMO.
