After updating my K800i to the R1ED001 with EROM R3A011 from june 30th 2006, with update service software version CRH1069179 R3B019 I noticed 3 strange changes:

- The phone goes into sleep/standby mode much faster than before (too fast!)

- I cannot bring the phone out of standby moving the joystick like before. It can only be done by pushing any button. Annoying because if I push the 5 to bring it out of standby, it will write the 5 which I therefore have to erase with C.

- I don't see the menu to upgrade the phone firmware thru GPRS anymore (not using a computer).

And lastly but not related to the update, the infrared from the K800i is not recognized or barely (once every 12 times I tried and very briefly when it does) by my laptop although all the K800i drivers have been installed correctly. It still works great with my old T630...

Anyone with those problems ?

Thhe display light and joystick behaviour is one of the actions has taken in order to reduce the battery consumptio, i.e. turn off the display light a little sooner than before, and also, disconnect the joystick in stby mode in order to avoid that the display lits up by accident. This is documented in mwarner's K800 Firmware Overview thread. I personally don't like that improvement, since I had become used to re-activate the display light by joggling the joystick. Any other keyboard button will activate the display light, though.

Thanks a lot for your answers. I must really be blind as I went thru the thread explaining all the firmware improvement without seing the joystick stuff. Part of the process of getting old I guess LOL!

Well my advice is: Do not update your phone's firmware until you are sure about all the improvements and bugs or misstakes of the newer software you want to update to. So if you don't like the software you can downgrade it. I am still running R1BC002 on my W800

@gc12
I also have the same pb after updating the firmware. My phone goes to standby mode too fast. Normally the light disappears after 15 sec; but sometimes it takes only several sec (1 or 2).
Besides these, the update makes the menu browsing faster than before. And some other improvements that I'm trying to discover.

then push return button(under left soft key) and you won't have to type a number and then erase it.
