@Nitro Fan,

You make the point perfectly you simply have to have a touchscreen so then it becomes your main need and it really doesn't matter how brilliant any other device may be, no touchscreen and it's not even in the running. That's fine by me as it's your device anyway.

I am currently considering getting a UIQ3 device to see just how good the software has become and the speed increase plus the extras still to come.
When i had my M600 i really wanted to love it but it made it very hard for me to do so. If only it had concentrated a little more and listened to what i was asking and actually responding in a timely manner i may have forgiven it more. IMO it was painfully slow and i hated Opera, E-Mail including scheduled retrieving was good, Calendar was adequate, Music Player really wasn't impressed with especially using HBH-DS970 same goes for Video Player. Don't SMS, MMS or use RSS feeds. But more than anything it was speed or rather lack of.

Currently i am using a E61 and i hate to say this but i wish the M600 was as good as this as then i wouldn't of sold it. Not sure about the P700 for me. But i would really like to see some SE smart phones that will launch by Q3/Q4 latest announced on the 8th May and i don't think I'm the only waiting either.

Any suggestions on which device i should buy? I nearly bought a P990 earlier but i would of needed to debrand and unlock it as it was Orange branded still only £160 delivered a couple of months old unmarked.

Marc

buy the N95 and you can brag about having the most advanced phone on the planet for a long... long....time. This bragging rights alone is worth the price.

@nokiamaniax

Yes the N95 supports the SU-8W Keyboard and is a simple .sis installation file which i believe is either already on your N95 or in the download section.

@ bavlondon2

Have you got your P990 yet and hows it working out for you?

I think once you have owned a N93, I dont think you can find a phone that can exceed n93 in capability except the N95. every other phone is like a compromise. For me, I cant find any phone currently in the market that can outpace the excitement I got from owning a N95.

I owned an n93 and n95. The only real nice features I liked was the video recording capability thats it. WIFI is opn the p990 and to be honest web surfing is nicer on the p990.

True the video isnt VGA but im not viewing it on a pc so 320 by 240 25fps is fine for your phone or blogs here and there.

As for the others, well battery is a lot better on the p990 compared to either the n93 or n95. As for people who say UIQ can be confusing well those people are just retarded. If youre telling me you can adjust to a phones interface in less than a few days then your probably to retarted to use such a high end phone in the first place.

Build quality there is no question, Nokia have dropped the bar since the n73 and its a shame they didnt get back up with the n95.

Why not take a look at the forum on 3g.co.uk where this is a huge thread dedicated soley to the build quality of the n95. You may sadley change your opinions after reading that.

The case with Nokia hgh end phones these days is that they dont perfect anything at all instead they make jack of al trade phones that are vrery buggy. Take the W800, SE perfected the walkman range and then did the same with the K800 for imaging.

Then the n93, n80 and 95.All feature packed phones but very buggy. If im right the N80 still has the grainey video in the dark and the n73 still has the blue fog in low light for pics and vids.

For someone who like something to be perfect the n95 might look it on paper but once youve had one youll see what im talking about.

I think 90% of the n95s ive seen (including 2 i retured) had this high pitched whining noise that you only hear when you put the phone to your ear. Many also have loose sliders that give room to wiggle the slider when shut sideways. All these bugs are so annoying and took the shine of the phone altogether for me. Im dissapointed with many things but mostley the battery as I so wanted to hang on to this phone but sadley it was not to be.

Dogman p990 is waiting to be picked up in the post office but ill let you know how it works out.

Don't know how old the majority of people here is, but I'm grown up and to me, this kind of bragging isn't worth spending one single penny !

edit: Don't misunderstand me, my husband and I do love phones, but when we buy a new one (which we do often ), we buy it for ourselves, because we like it, not for other people.

Spot on its about what you need not some stupid bragging rights.

Merylin both the n95 and p990 are good phones but you have to ask yourself will you use GPS alot? if not then go for th ep990 even if you do id still reccomend the SE over the nokia as it has a better battery life, bigger screen which is better for surfing, both phones have wifi, whilst the n95 has a good camera if you were wanting quality pics you wouldnt be looking at a phone to start with as comapared to 5mp digi cams the n95 sucks.

As for video the n95 takes great video, the p990 is slightly behind using QVGA where the N95 uses VGA but again if its only for taking clips here and there the p990 is great.

You wont be dissapointed with either I can assure you that but for me the p990 is a true convergance device where as the n95 is on paper a great device but due to the poor battery fails to live up to the hype.

Well one thing only, the size of the the pic (5 Mpixels) doesn't necessarily mean it has better quality. I am not saying N95 it doesn't have good pic quality since I don't know.

Hi bavlondon2,

Sorry but i have to totally disagree with you on a few points although i have now sold my N93 the battery life was awesome no problems at all with it. It can't be compared to an acknowledged problem with P990 battery, it shipped with to small battery to start with. My N93 was not perfect but with 2 fast realeased firmwares it certainly was pretty dammed close. I really can't understand how you can like Opera whilst so many complain about it on the P990 and install Opera mini instead. You may not like it but IMHO the Nokia /Safari browser is in a different class and the N93's screen is outstanding seeing as it is a non touchscreen. The above are my preferences but some of what you say may be your opinion they are not supported by facts.

Again your views are as valid as any one else but i just don't agree with your views as i have a totally different experience. I know this may be hard to believe but i am actually more impressed with my E61 than i was with the N93 it really is a superb device that does so much so well and the large 16 million colour screen is just so good, easily the best qwerty i have ever used on any device If the M600 was as good as this as i expected it to be i would never of sold it. Although it will be interesting to see where UIQ3 is now and the new now promised OS as i should be getting a M600 or W950 any time soon.

Marc

SE over the nokia as it has a better battery life, bigger screen which is better for surfing

P990 screen is only slightly bigger then N95. It is Just 1 mm more in width and 2-3mm more in length. N95 screen on the other hand is much better in contrast and brightness and color depth of 16m (p990 is only 262K). This makes huge difference in the quality of photo/video.

Dont forget P990 is much bigger and heavier than the sleek N95.

As for video the n95 takes great video, the p990 is slightly behind using QVGA

Slightly behind? You gotta be joking right.
N95 video has 4X more pixel and twice as many fps in mpeg format.

You wont be dissapointed with either I can assure you that but for me the p990 is a true convergance device where as the n95 is on paper a great device but due to the poor battery fails to live up to the hype.

P990 battery life is also very poor. You can only get 1-2 days moderate use with it. N95 also can also manage 1-2 days on moderate normal use.
