Or do something else - (anything) i need a smartphone
the best argument wins (by the way i have £50 a month to spend on line rental if anyone has any other ideas)

you know what i will suggest, right?
spv is the way to go, why wait, that phone offers all that p800 offers in a smaller form factor... very user friendly and customizible... has more apps, a lot of people are creating apps, has better technical specs.. and finally it is coming in a week... so why wait get it now and play all you want... this is surely the way to go, unless you desperately want a built in camera and also if you are biggest ms nemesis... if u r none of the above, spv should be the righ choice for you....

Spv mate, much better with msn messenger and internet explorer. Syncing will be so so easy with the usb cradal, if you send a lot of sms though you may have a big bill

Go for the SPV ... symbian has been around for sometime now but the lack of apps is appalling. It wouldn't change a bit even with the P800 ... if you are a developer, would you do a software for a 'big' market like MS or earn puny little for the only symbian OS 7 device. Even the symbian series 60 is hard press for apps (if any). The SPV is the way to go .... |

I would wait for the P800. In my eyes the P800 seems like a much better choice with it's nice touch screen, and handwriting recognition.
SymbianOS is also a much more proven OS when it comes to portabel devices. The web/wap browser Opera on SymbianOS is very very good.
There is also a good thing about the P800 delay, that shows that SE doesn't want to rush out the phone. And that the phone has gone through serious testing. Which was a bit of a problem with the first T68 sofware revisions.
The SPV is more a phone, and the P800 is more of a PDA. Which means among other things that with the SPV you're stuck with T9 input but on the P800 you can choose between either T9 or Hand writing recognition input.
Remember that the SPV also is the first phone with M$ software, remember that they needed three revisions of WinCE until it got to a usable state (todays PocketPC's). Another thing to remember is the memory usage/cpu usage and we all know what M$ based products do with memory and CPU. On a desktop today it doesnt matter that much because the resources are very large and cheap. But on a portable device it does matter alot. And the more CPU power the OS uses the shorter the battery will last.
Another thing to remeber is how M$ handels standards. They take standards and then change them so they only works with thier products. That is not a good thing. I wouldn't be surprised if M$ would sudenly change some things in for example their MMS-implementation and suddenly it only works with M$ products. Or they change some WAP stuff and suddenly certain wap-pages only works with M$ based phones. That's exactly what they have done so far on the desktop platform.
Ericsson have made cell phones for approx. 10 years, and the Symbian OS has been available for a long time. I would choose between SonyEricsson, Nokia, or some of the new nice japanese phones. I would stay away from M$ based phones for a few years..
I don't like phones that are limited to a single operator either. That limits the future if one would like to switch network operator or move somewhere else in the world.
Another option would be to keep your T68 and buy a PDA. Palm's new PDA looks very nice with integrated bluetooth and a large (320x320 tft screen) for US$499 |

P800!
The SPV is the first (of many) Windows phones. Do you really want to be using the first release of ANY ms system?
I've only just got my T68i, but sometime next year I may change to the Sendo z100. Not yet though (even if it was out!)

i think the p800 shld be a better phone with a good QC coz its even used in the movie...nothing appears in a hollywood movie for nothing rite...and i have installed sp1 in winxp and it still sux big time..i wuld'nt trust a 1st h/p os by microsoft moreover!.. besides i am sure they will be more applications made available to the p800 than the spv... |
