Please help with P910 sync! |

Your help and expertise would be greatly appreciated.
I recently purchased a p910a with speaker phone cradle. Coincidentially, I have a new PC as well. So I'm starting pretty fresh.
All the software installation seemed to go fine. The USB device got added correctly and the sync software seems fine.
However, when I put the p910 in the cradle, I'm supposed to get a dialogue that will add the phone and sim card to be recognized by the sync software. But I never get this dialogue. It is like the PC isn't seeing that the phone was put in the cradle!!
So without a connection, of course I can't even begin to sync anything.
The computer definitely sees the USB cable - it shows up in my device listing (under hardware under system under control panel).
The cables are defintely connected correctly. The phone charges in the stand.
So how do I get the PC sync software to see that a phone is in the cradle?
I have already done a master reset on the phone - still the dialogue box does not come up. I have also removed and reinstalled the PC Suite (sync software) and removed and reinstalled the device driver for the USB cable.
Has anyone seen this? Can anyone help? I'm a bit disperate.

Oh, I also had my firewall and virus software off while doing all this, if that helps.

Ok here's a bit of even odder information that might help someone help me.
I can sync this phone using my old computer and the old sync station.
I put it in the cradle, and it asked me for a name of the phone like its supposed to and then did the sync no problem.
So the difficulty must be something with my new phone/computer. But what?
Help please?
