You said "and don't tell me that you never had a Nokia phone????? "
I'm using mobile phones since 1990... (12 years)... and, sorry, I never had any Nokia...!!!

12 years and you've never had a Nokia?
you've missed out.
alot of functions take 1 or 2 extra button presses on an Ericsson than they do on a Nokia.
Ericsson need to sort out their menu and t68 shiny buttons feel cheap when compared to an 8890.
a good phone but lots of room for improvement.

I don’t think I’ve missed anything...
Let say, until 5 years ago, Nokia didn’t have any interesting phone...! The fist one which was worth something was the "banana model"... but a this time, was twice as big as my GF788...(or my T18s... can’t remember...)!!
Then, when Nokia did the 8850 (similar to the 8890), it was so expensive (still is...) I bought instead the Siemens S35i... which was the best phone I’ve ever seen... Into this phone, you have all the features you can find in any Nokia + all the functionality you can find in a ...!!
Today, I own a superb T68... with a lot of great features... really nice looking... but I’m really missing how nice it was to write any SMS with the Siemens. (T9 by Ericsson is like going back to stone-age...)
I already said that a lot of time in this forum : as soon a Siemens make a tri-band color phone, I’ll go back to...

nokia phones are user-friendly phones...
i mean, such phones are for those people who are lazy in reading manuals....
unlike ericsson, and other phones, which are "trick" phones....
wherein it would take you a while to figure out how to work it out....
(haha, especially when my mates were trying to figure out how to open the menu of T68)

"I don’t think I’ve missed anything..."
you have, you've missed the point Mathmos was making, just because Ericsson have the T68 don't start knocking Nokia as they make good phones. of course some disagree but that's because:
a)they've never had a Nokia.
b)only had 1 Nokia(and it had a fault)
c)use a mobile once a day.
"Let say, until 5 years ago, Nokia didn’t have any interesting phone...!
to you maybe, you've never owned one so you would say that.
Motorola's first handset the mighty 8500 was one of the best phones ever made, does that make them the best today...no...anyhow, since the Banana Nokia have dominated the entry level phone market with 5110, 3210 thru to current 3330 model...what Ericsson was comparable to the 5110? ...none.
and they've dominated the business user market with the 6110, 8810 & 8850 etc.
there were models prior to the Banana only i never owned them...what ericsson was comparable to the 8850?...none.
Ericsson only entered the mobile arena a couple of years prior to Nokia with the analog EH237 which i owned and can comment on it being a brilliant phone.
"The first one which was worth something was the "banana model"... but at this time, was twice as big as my GF788...(or my T18s... can’t remember...)!!"
the T18 was never anything to write about, you couldn't give that phone away.
"Then, when Nokia did the 8850 (similar to the 8890), it was so expensive"
as a power user price never has been a factor, you don't worry about cost when your interested in having the best phone and you don't use this to determine whether one phone is better than another either.
"I bought instead the Siemens S35i... which was the best phone I’ve ever seen"
seen or used?....don't forget you've never used a Nokia.
"Into this phone, you have all the features you can find in any Nokia..."
i could go a step further and say my old NEC P3 had all the functions i needed in a phone, clock, alarm, last callers list...no sms but this was analog...and more than 10 years ago.
i've heard people saying this and that about the phone like it's the dog's bo**ocks, my girl has one and to be honest after all the raving about the thing it ain't all that.
it's got good functions, but the user interface can be improved which means it's not 100%...close but no cigar.
and now the very same ones who said "it's the best phone in the world , better than the Nokia with fautly screen" are now saying it's switched off on its own....so just as i suspected it's not free from faults...don't get me wrong, i'd consider it the market leader right now...but i won't be writing off any other manufacturers over Ericsson who have a history of making 1 or 2 brilliant phones versus a countless number of really sh** ones...and i wouldn't knock Nokia's dodgy screens as Ericsson have power issues.

Waouuuuwww, I’m really impressed !!!
It seems that you know Nokia pretty well !!
OK, I don’t want to make a war just to protect one phone maker versus another !!
Let summarize a little bit :
1 Matmos said once something like "who has never had a Nokia", and, as a matter of fact, I do !!!
2. I never had any Nokia, first because they never match my own need, and if they did, I wasn’t enough informed... !! You know, I have a lot of friends... owning a lot of Nokia... and if I didn’t posses one myself... I made a lot of comparisons and I never was convinced...!!
3. About the S35i, I owned one 18 month, just before the T68, and (maybe I’m wrong...) I didn’t find any Nokia able to do all the stuff you can do with it... like, for example, changing a logo (B&W, 101x80 pixel... huge compare to Nokia...) with my Palm or my PC...
4. You said "as a power user price never has been a factor..." but, once again in my own opinion, I think Nokia is the bestseller today just because they make cheap phones for teenagers...
5. Today, I’m still absolutely convinced that I didn’t miss anything... and I suppose I’ll have to wait a very long time before Nokia will match my own need...!!! One of the reason is because if I compare any maker with Siemens, I’m still thinking that Siemens is much better in term of features...
and if I’m happy to be a T68 owner, it’s really only for the tri-band and the colors...
And, above all, don’t forget that is just MY own opinion...!!!

U guys say that just cos u own se phones and u have to support it. When in reality u know urself that sony ericson sucks........IF NOKIA IS PUKE THEN SOMY ERICSON IS PUKE + CRAP + MUCUS. Sony Ericson phones are BABY PHONES. Just look at their designs. They look more like a toy rather than a phone. Moreover cover gets loose and worn out very fast. Not to mention the keypads. Are they really keypads or just something pasted on the phone. Keypads are rather ugly too....OVERALL SONY ERICSON SUCKS!!! Reality is always harsh. Isnt it? |
