Radio headset with M600i |

Hi!
I really lack the FM radio on the M600i, and I try to find ways to add this functionaly using one of the radio headsets. I currently have the HPR-20 and HPM-80. The HPR-20 has the old style (aka T28) connector, the HPM-80 does not seem to work with anything else than the w900.
So it seems there are two possibities:
1) making a T28-fastport converter for the HPR-20
2) making the HPM-80 work with M600
For the 2) I have no idea how it can be done Maybe it would be a good start to sniff the communication between the phone and headsets, to find out how it authenticates itself, then somehow rewrite the FW of the headset... I think too much knoweledge and electronic engineering/experience is needed.
Point 1) seems much more possible. I disassembled quickly the connector part of the HPR-20 and there are 5 wires. I didn't had too much time, so I couldnt observe it thouroughly, but I think the 5 cables are:
- Ground
- Vpp (+3V ?)
- Mic
- Speaker
- ? (unknown)
So it seems it would be enough to map just 5 (maybe 6) pins to get the HPR-20 working with fastport.
Just for reference, the pinouts:

So, what do you think? Any toughts, ideas, etc? |

I don't think there will be any more radio headsets due to the fact that they implement radio (with or without RDS) in more and more models.

as I've suggested in other threads, even if you could get/make an adaptor as you describe for 1), since the M600 cannot directly use the HPR-20 I doubt SE would provide built in support for it if you could get it attached

there is no need for builtin support for hpr-20 I think. From the phone's point of view it's an ordinary headset. |

As you may already know, there is a Nokia stereo bluetooth headset that has fm radio built in.

And there is already a SE radio bt headset as well, but I don't really want as BT headset, and I don't really want to spend any money, and it's MUCH more fun to make another headset work with the M600 (just like it was fun to make the chatboard work with the P800 |
