it was locked to 3sweden, and branded from 3. I would like to know what i did wrong, and if itīs worth trying again when i get it back from service. The unBranding worked, no 3logo when i started up, but didnīt accepted any sim cards.

Somebody posted a more detailed explanation on his blog.

http://bayanijuan.blogspot.co[....]ebranding-adventure-steps.html

I followed his instructions and was able to debrand my P990i. One of the link in his previous article pointed me to this forum.

Thanks for that link, it provides soome helpful details. I just noticed that in those screenshots, the Taiwan firmware did not have anti-aliased fonts. Is this a setting or do only some firmwares render text with anti-aliased fonts?

I'm not sure if its 100% checked that if you have a SIM locked P990, and debrand it using the method in this thread, that after it will not accept any SIM including a SIM that worked in the phone before.

I just wouldn't recommend it as there has been reports that this may happen.

No nothing but service from your dealer helps, They must reinstall the hole software if i undersod correctly.

If you go to service menu up*downdown*down* And check the simlock does it say 0 or 5?

It said 0, I took it to my local phone dealer who unlocked it originally and he unlocked it again and now its all fine and im running latest firmware but i hve two CDA numbers but that doesnt bother me, i wonder if i try using SEUS on my phone now and run it normally, whether it will lock it again

thanks

So it was unlocked when you unbranded? Did you take out your simcard when you unbranded?

Thank you for this! I've been looking for it! I was just wondering though, if this firmware had an English language option (like the Singapore firmware)? Or at least, is it possible to install a language pack onto the R6 firmware that will translate the interface into English?

kcassidy, you said you took it back to your dealer who originally unlocked it for you? So it was locked before?

I'm still fairly hesitant to try this trick... I wonder if it could have something even to do with hardware revisions? I'm in Canada and this phone isn't even here officially, so I'm not sure as to how I'd go about getting the phone serviced if the worst happened...

My phone is already factory unlocked and unbranded (came new as a World Generic 2)... all I really wanted to do was get a little Chinese support.

Hi, yeah when i got the phone it was locked, i then got it unlocked, did this and it locked, so i got it unlocked again. If i was you, i would do the kulankendi way as its only about Ģ6 and im pretty sure will not mess up your phone.

thanks
