Soz... thanks for the reminder looking at bytes not kb..
I got the following 4 files that state 1kb:
1st is 49bytes ( 4.00KB on disk)
2nd is 525bytes ( 4.00KB on disk)
3rd is 670bytes ( 4.00KB on disk)
4th is 988bytes ( 4.00KB on disk)
All have INFILE_LONGTERM in the name- just the numbers are different.
Which files do i replace? none are 300 and 400bytes :s

Those 3++ & 4++ bytes were intended for p990i, yours maybe lil bit different from what I remember in the earlier posts. |

I really want to do this to my branded w950i but don't want to risk it with the warranty as this is my third SE and the previous two have had something go wrong. K800i the speaker just stopped working, so i expect something similar to happen to this one seeing as its a lot more buggy!

Tried every combo i think is possible and still not able to update the w950i.
I thought maybe coz i already have wg1 it mite think its already up-to-date so i strated with the HK ones that were listed here, still got nothing. Some combos say application error, some say the phone cant be identified and a few say phone is already up-to-date...
Any ideas? |

Make sure to do one firmware upgrade first. Then the files that need to be replaced will be there. |

Does anyone have a version which will give me Chinese support but will still allow me to use an English interface with the R6D23 firmware?
I was considering the Singapore firmware, but it's latest available firmware version is still only R5.
It seems that the 162007/5 - Hong-Kong:CHS will give me simplified Chinese support. Does this region give me a choice between English or Chinese? Or at least, is it possible to install one of those language packs? (it seems that the language packs are only listed up to R5?)
Also, does anyone have an explanation as to why some people are bricking their phones? (Locks them?) My guess is that these are people who have phones that were either previously locked or still locked? I just got my P990i and I really don't want to brick it already... |

Ha, just did the replace file thing, look at this:

But when i reran the SEUS, it said: 'Update selected: Generic World 1'
So I guess it will work, but I just wanted to show you my screenie =)

I have the M950 firmware. (The M600 and W950)
The keyboard and M2 are working fine ,
only the radio doesn't work but I think there is
no 1 in the M600

My p990 is at service for 2weeks becouse of this. "Insert correct sim" was all it showed. |

Scorpower, I'm just curious to know what your device was like before you tried this? Because, it seems like there are numerous people reporting success, but also numerous people like you who have unfortunately had their devices locked.
Was your device already branded or locked prior to trying?
Does anyone know where I can get the different files for different CDAs? I would like one that will give me a firmware with Chinese support. (I'm currently on World Generic 2) |
