My white W900i lens arrived today and it took me about 5 minutes to swap the lens' over.

Get yourself a torx screwdriver set.

Then here's how its done : -

  • Remove the rub-plate behind the screen - this is held on with a type of gum, which can be re-used.
  • Remove the 2 screws.
  • Get the sharpest knife possible and prize the backplate off - (not too difficult at all) - this will loosen the lens assembly.
  • Using a very sharp knife, prize the glass lens off, be careful as the plastic surround is made of soft plastic. It is held on using the same gum that holds the rub-plate on, its quite easy. Hardly any force is needed just be careful you don't scratch anything.
  • Once off, you now have the opportunity to give it a good clean.
    - On the White W900i, dirt tends to gather down the sides of the lens - between the edges of the lens and the plastic surround, I didn't realise how much until I took this off. This can be scraped away.
  • I applied a tiny bit of gum in each corner and applied the new lens.
  • press into place and hold for a few seconds - the new lens comes with a protector, leave the front protector in place so you can press it down without leaving finger prints.

The difference is amazing. The vodafone logo is gone and with the grime removed it looks as good as new!

This is highly recommended if you're going to resell your W900i - it improves the appearance immensely and will add £s to the resale price.

Cheers for the guide .. all went well apart from I got the new lens on then noticed a speck of dust under it . I tried leaving it .. for all of 30 seconds before I had to pull it apart again.

I decided to put a black one on mine . tis a bit different
