After SO many people's dismay, I did some research, and approached on this subject; here is the official reply(my original 'mail below it):

Subject: Extra K800i request please......
Hello again,

Following from case 70321125, I forgot a major point of the K800i; that of the fact that the video recording capability of the handset does not match the rest of the imaging capabilities. QCIF/15fps is a real let down, considering that a Walkman 'Music' handset(W900) could provide QVGA/30fps last year......should a music handset have better imaging function than an imaging handset? I don't believe so, and I know many others who share my view. I also know that a fix is possible, if the hardware can play video at the aformentioned settings, then it can also encode(via a firmware change) at those settings. This is probably my most annoying point to what is otherwise a good imaging handset, I do hope you can resolve this issue. I look forward to hearing from you promptly on this subject(and case 70321125)....

Regards,

Ok, we need more patience.......but, YES, a K800 CAN encode QVGA/30fps video.........just not until someone writes the f/w!
Never mind, had plenty of training waiting for P990

Nice reply but nothing definite. It would be great if this could be encoded into the handset.

It this is possible, does it mean held back the true capability of the K800i for some marketing reason - like they will have it appear as a K810i.

I would feel short-changed if I had just bought a K800i and a K810i is around the corner with 30fps recording.

Yes, it would be preferrable if the MAY was a WILL....

On holding back capability, funnily enough, I'm waiting for a reply as to why Eldar's test handset had the TrackID feature installed and active, yet it's not in production phones(I know it's probably considered a walkman feature, but it has been shown to be possible, hence I questioned it with SE)

And I for one am already feeling short changed due to the fact that my 'imaging' handset has one of it's key features trumped by a discontinued 'music' handset, the lovely W900! I'm severely hoping any update is not left for a new model!

@Aware

I am sure the K800i and W850 use the same platform so maybe it was a pre-production model and testbed for the TrackID feature.

I knew it is possible! It can easly use memory that is taken for BestPic(~8mb, fast write and read), hope SE will do that!

I wouldn't hold my breath for this one, AFAIK, the W900 capability to record videos at 30fps because it has dedicated nvidia graphic chip supporting it, like the P990i. I'd be utterly surprised if the K800 can record at 30 fps with just a firmware upgrade.

Exactly, its a generic reply not to give the receiver anything concrete - because SE wont intend to ever increase the video recording quality past a little higher bitrates maybe.

They cannot simply say no, its never going to happen because that would p!ss the consumer off too much, and alienate their loyalty to the SE brand.

I HIGHLY doubt this is ever going to happen (QVGA recording), because if they did, this would mean they are changing the specs of K800i.

very generic reply. it sounds like he didn't even read your email. this kind of replies work for any issue you send them. I really wish I was wrong, but I don't expect this to happen with K800, maybe in a future handset.

Well, it seemed very strange to me, when I discovered that K800 is unable to record high-resolution video. Camera is the best which SE has got and it can't record such video as a Walkman? So K700 records exactly the same clips as K800, right? That makes no sense. K810 is possible, but not in the near future. So I believe that this feature may be added in new firmwares. Even though the answer seems very generic.

K800i can't records at 15 fps it's just 10 fps with max 144 kbps what a shame.

The videos in K750/W800 were of a lot better quality than the ones on K700. Are they any better on K800 than in K750?
