Hi there,

I thought I'd share my experience with two so called authorised service centers here in Manila. One in Glorieta 4 and the other in Rockwell.

Last month, I brought my k750 to have the joystick fixed. After a week they called me and said that i need to spend 10,000 to have the unit fixed since some other parts needed to be changed in order for the joystick to work. When I gave them the go signal the customer service was shocked by my decision and said it would be better to buy a new phone. I told him if oyu are able to make my phone 100% operational i'll give you the go signal. He then advises me that they don't have complete parts. FINE!!! I then brought the unit to Market Martket and in 3 hours time they were able to fix the unit. COST: 1,500.00 Been using the k750 for a month now and it's working just fine.

My sister brought her k750 to another Authorised Service Center in Rockwell, after a week they tell her that they can't repair it because of a board problem and that she has to replace the phone. I then offered to birng her unit to Market Market. Lo and Behold they were able to fix the unit. LCD Problem.

It's really disappointing to be dealing with these so called service centers when they're out to con you into buying a new phone.

Between Semicon and Memo Express, I prefer the style of the latter when 'fixing' damaged fones . . . they will have it repaired/replaced parts right on front of you, unlike at Semicon. Though when I had my T68i's housing and keypad replaced at Memo Express last June . . . the technician told me that the repairs will be DONE inside and this was advised to them by Management . . . as their former method of fixing celfones 'outside' LOOKED 'cheap' . . . so I declined, I asked the technician to have it replaced outside, so he did ! I told him that what I am paying for with the labor charge is that I can see my fone being repaired right in front of me . . . unlike at Semicon. Though most of the fones I brought at Semicon for repairs or even for plain change of covers did NOT encounter any problems . . .

As far as I know . . . all celfone repairs at Memo Express will be DONE . . . inside the techicians office from hereon . . . not the usual, in-front-of-the-customer style. [addsig]

my friend have a similar experience at SE cyberzone sm north edsa. his k750i have a problem with its joystick. nung kinukuha na niya sinisingil din siya for the memorystick part na working naman when he left his phone. my friend insisted na joystick lang ang problem nung fone nya so after having an argument with the se staff, di niya talaga binayaran ung part na un. is there a way for us to contact sony ericsson para ma report din mga authorized service centers na walang kwenta ang service?

these employees of these authorized service center doesnt really want to diagnose your phone ESPECIALLY NON WARRANTIED units.. they test once and if it doesnt work, they'll say it's board problem, lucky you if your phone is warrantied, they try to diagnose, try to fix... if deemed unrepairable, they will replace it.

but when your phone has no warranty... simple battery charge problem they'll say its board defect.....

unlike the tiangge style... they try to fix your phone.. thats how they earn... authorized centers employees - they repair or didnt repair, service or no service they still get their salary..

btw, all the telecom shops in glorietta (nokia, se (moa, sm north), moto, Benq-s) are owned and operated by Memo express. the SE shop in greenbelt 1 is owned by globotel.

so i suggest you buy units from authorized distributors (units has importers' sticker - semicon, haldane, brightpoint for SE phones and NTC sticker) for peace of mind

@aljochua

got tha same prob when i bought my K750 last year... brought it to G4 SE shop, and they said it was a board problem, tho what i did was just try to update the phone via SEUS, eventually the update turned sour as it didnt update the camdriver. so it was rendered unusable.

i guess its operational procedure to say that BOARD PROBLEM exists on NON-WARRANTIED units... silly.. i guess those tiangge shops are more reliable for non warrantied units. tho some tiangge shops might get/replace some parts from your phone. its a good thing that theyll fix it right infront of you, so you can monitor whats goin on while they fix it.

and surely 619 is right. SE staff at G4 and others earn by just coming into the office and do sum shite. while those small shops earn by fixing real phone problems.

thats why it makes me think... i should learn cellphone repair myself..

Another complain here... I bought my S700 @ the SE shop in Glorietta 3 (Digital Exchange) last year. I asked them to fix the problem in my phone wherein the bluetooth sometimes switches off automatically while in use. They weren't able to fix it, and worse, my phone lost its ability to take pictures silently! I asked them to undo what they did, but they said 'we only upgrade each phone's firmware based on what is stored on our server'.

@619: Is MemoExpress also an authorized distributer?
