Does iSync work yet? Is it possible to use the phone as a modem yet? Or do I have to wait for drivers...?

The P990 White Paper has this paragraph on page 45:
----------------------------------------
Apple® iSync
The latest version of Apple's iSync is supported by P990i. Using Bluetooth, iSync can synchronize Contacts, Calendar and To Do items between P990i and a Mac computer.
----------------------------------------
Any actual P990 or M600i user tried anything?? |

Yup, tried it on my mac running iSync 2.3 and it definitely doesn't work. The author of Salling Clicker and Mobilesync confirms as well that Apple needs to write something and it's not a simple thing that a third-party developer can add on.

I can't even send vCards to the phone from my Mac. The phone says the file is damaged and cannot be used. |

| Make sure you pick v2.1 from the Address Book preferences and then it works fine. |

http://mobile.feisar.com/ claims iSync now works with P990. Has anyone with a Mac done this successfully yet?
Thanks |

[P990i] Anslutning till telefonen misslyckades.
Se till att telefonen är påslagen. Om felet uppstår igen startar du om telefonen.
Synkroniseringen för enheten "P990i" misslyckades
In english:
3:09:18 AM Error [P990i] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
Tried all the tricks people have suggested in different forums, nothing will work. Followed all instructions at SE site! |

Have you checked that your phone is visible and that the energy saving feature is turned off? I'm not sure about visibility, but the energy saving feature will cause the sync to fail. |

yea, followed the instructions exactly, no energysaving. And I can send files and browse the phone on my computer, so bluetooth works just fine, the phone is detected by isync and it is set to visible. |

Hey, I have the same issue, iSync just says Connection failed to device Cypher, power saving off, fully visible.
According to SE support their plugin is working and they tested it, it is now an iSync issue. They tested is with Mac OS 10.4.8 so maybe in one of the recent updates Apple changed something in the inner workings of iSync causing it to fail.
This situation really bugs the hell out of me tbh, it took them a year to write the plugin and now it's not even functional (anymore).
There is one last thing I'd like to check with you guys, according to SE Update Services the latest firmware for my phone is:
Phone: R9F011
Bluetooth: R5A01
Organizer: R5A17
CDA: R8A01
but I read that some people have already newer firmware releases
Phone: R9G007
Bluetooth: R5A01
Organizer: R6D23
CDA: R6D23
so I'm wondering how it comes that that firmware doesn't show up in my SUES and if maybe that is the cause of the problem? |

I was actually able to use iSync with the p990, but I had to restart the phone 3 or 4 times for it to work, even after following the instructions completely. I think it's just extremely finicky. Also, I did have to sync contacts and calendars separately the first time. Once it worked the first time, it has worked since, with a phone restart here and there. I did discover an odd bug after syncing, where i can no longer send sms messages. I phone says they sent, but they never actually arrive. I can still receive them. So beware of that, as I have yet to find a solution for it. |

To use the plugin i believe you need to have the latest software in your P990i:
R9GA001? |

I have a post on my blog concerning this, to use the iSync plugin you need to have a t least the following firmware version:
Phone: R9G007
Bluetooth: R5A01
Organizer: R6D23
CDA: R9A01
This works for a Trade Netherlands branded P990, so have a look at SonyEricsson SUES.
Also notice that you need to turn off Enable power saving before the sync, you can switch it back on afterwards
