ve read quite a bit about this, as many people still seem to insist on an initial charge of 16 hours, to help "condition" the battery.. but from what I have read, this appears to be a myth... it certainly does not even tell you to do this in the manual..!!!

Some general info on li-ion batteries

http://www.batteryuniversity.com/print-partone-12.htm

"Lithium-ion is a very clean system and does not need priming as nickel-based batteries do. The 1st charge is no different to the 5th or the 50th charge. Stickers instructing to charge the battery for 8 hours or more for the first time may be a leftover from the nickel battery days."

" Unlike nickel and lead-based batteries, a new lithium-ion pack does not need cycling through charging and discharging. Priming will make little difference because the maximum capacity of lithium-ion is available right from the beginning. Neither does a full discharge improve the capacity of a faded pack. However, a full discharge/charge will reset the digital circuit of a 'smart' battery to improve the state-of-charge estimation"

So there you have it, just keeping it topped up rather than running it out should maintian good operating lifespan....

i think it use to be the way to charge for 16hours+ but with the new technolgy means this dosent have to be done anymore. Look at the way batteries have changed phones. They use to be huge now there samller lighter and you get a better charge out of them

Can this be made sticky in an apprppriate forum, not just SE...??

It would appear many people are still posing questions re battery charging/conditioning...
