as I've had to remove a couple of posts so far... here is a reminder from the first post...

So is a video more likely to get out of sync with the audio the longer the video is? I don't mean does it get more out of sync the further into the file you go, but, for instance, if there is a complex scene at the beginning, is it more likely to lose sync at that point if the whole video is longer?

I am trying to encode a load of 40-minute episodes, and the lag after the busy title sequence seems worse when I did the whole episode than when I just did a test encode of the first 5 minutes.

Also, I asked before about video playlists on the K800. Are they possible?

Thanks

Tom

If encoded properly AV should always be in sync I’ve encoded full movies and they have been good quality and play back very smoothly

No. I'm not posting any videos. I'm trying to convert legal copyrighted material for my own use.

Obviously. What I am after is settings for encoding. Lots of people talk of 400k video, but even 300k sometimes lags for me with 64k audio.

Cheers

Out of interest, since Nero 7 costs something like $70, while the Nero Digital codec costs only about $30, would I be missing out on much if I continued using Recode CE and simply bought the codec, rather than buying the full application?

Cheers

Ok
So has it been worked out what the best settings to use are and what program is best to use?

I downloaded Super (C) converter and encoded a file but i dont know where it encoded it too. anyone know where the default would be? or how i can change it.
Thanks

Yes, youd be missing out on the tons of other great features included in the full Nero 7 premium, aswell as free updates. I highly recommend getting the full package. There are lots of goodies.

edit: Tried with 350/128 now and it looked okay and in sync after 4 minutes! One little flaw though: Sometimes it appears large blocks in black or white for a sec or so in the picture. I don't see those blocks when playing the same file in QT. Any ideas about what causes that?

Yes, i sometimes get those large block appear for a second or two.
Obviously i need to change the settings slightly.
Do i have the frame rate too slow (25 fps) or a too high bit rate (334).

@bavlondon2, 48 for sound is pretty poor... try a bit higher and see what its like.

Im gonna try some encodes out later, and do a bit of experimenting. As someone else suggested here, im gonna try out pspvideo9 as its already set up for 1-click encoding with 320*240 resolution and with various other framerate/bitrate options
