What I believe to be the "Activity Menu" of W800 |

NEEDED: Researchers and beta-testers!!!
I'm not sure, but I believe, i found it, and if so, the long wished dreams of all W800 owners will be fulfilled : to have an Activity menu in their fones. (Or atleast, use the centre button for some kind of shortcut menu)
So, we browse to TPASystemSettings and we find a file called dyn_shortcut.dat. The very first few lines of the file go like this:
Note that the FIRST item in the list is media player, which, incidentally is also the purpose of the centre button on my K750>>>W800 mod.
Also note that the other shortcuts (left/right/up/down) are also mapped here. So, I'm wondering, if it's possible to exchange the mappings, so that the centre button calls up the activity menu and the "up" button calls up the Walkman.
N.B : I tried it, but screwed up my fone, though I recovered by restoring the backup copy of the dat file. Others are welcome to try, but at their own risk

The activity menu is on k750, but not w800, as standard, it is a menu where comonly used shortcuts etc are stored, it also allows you to minimize a running app (java, mp3 player etc.) and use the phone on another fucntion while it reamins running in background. Its a sort of equivilent of the key combination on a pc. Hope that helps, and sorry for going of topic... :/ |

I just checked the tpa/system/settings from the k750i before and after I flashed to a w800i. Both contain the mediaplayer line first so I am not sure that it is actually referring specifically to the media player shortcut off the center button on the w800i.

I think in editing this you would need to reconstruct the whole activity menu and then place a shortcut there, unless we can find the activity menu part in the k750i files somewhere. But as has already been posted here before people believe this to be rooted deeper in the FLASH fm. |

could be, but I hope I'm wrong. I say dyn_shortcut there too, but I thought it might be the "shortcuts menu".

Pressing up won't work in a java app or any other menu though!
Does pressing up show dismissed sms messages and calls on the w800? That's another bonus of the activity button. |

Yes but pressing up just doesnt feel the same as having the activity menu. You cant resume java apps from there or see new events etc.
I reckon if this can be done, which I am sure given time it can, the K750/W800 hybrid will be an ideal phone. That really is the only thing missing from the W800i firmware that I miss.
I really wonder what the first line "MediaPlayer" relates to if it is present in both the dyn_shortcut.dat on both the K750i and W800i.

It's just the default shortcut on the shortcut menu (of either w800 or k750). The K750 has a media player too you know

Yup I know that but what I was saying was the the MediaPlayer tag was not reffering to the activity menu button. And it doesnt appear as default as the first option in the activity menu either. |
