Sony is going the Oragami route, and is about to announce a Ultra Portable PC.The flash video states “New from Sony VAIO” so whatever this device it will be from the Vaio product line. The device has a fingerprint reader,Motion Eye, Bluetooth, WiFi and WWAN also has the usual MS Slot aswell as a nice Querty Keyboard. The last picture shows the docking station.

An official announcement is due 16/5/06 according to the site.

Yeh i love it,think its far superior in terms of design possibly specs aswell once they are fully revealed.

No ideas on the price yet,but i presume it will be much more than the Oragami being Sony. [addsig]

That is one nice machine

Reminds me of a clie UX50, a sidekick and them sony picturebooks with the motion eye!

By the looks of things - like the origami by samsung being £700+ I would think Sony would be asking for £1000 or more for one of these.

looks cool, though I dunno about that hip case!

I've been looking for a tablet pc for some time now, but I wanted one sbu tablet size (i.e. smaller than 8 or 10 inches) and it seems to market is now growing with the upc and things like this. I figure they will meet the Windows Mobile devices which are up to 4 inch screen now but less power, of course, but longer battery life.

Somwhere in the middle there will be a product just right for me and this vaio is definitly on its way to that point

The major downer for the PSP for this market is the lack of a touch screen.

I'm no game player but I'm sure it would have benefitted the game playing as much as any other apps written for it

Too bad it doesn't run the oragami software.

I've got a U750, and it too doesent run oragami. I guess the reason is that oragami requires XP Tablet. Sony only ships its stuff with XP Home. Also, XP Tablet takes a Full 256MB of Ram by itself, whereas XP Home can be run on machines with even 96MB of Ram (tried it myself ).

What? No 3g for internet connection on the move? Can it accept Vodafone Mobile ConnectCard? Or is it 3g via mobile phone BT/Wifi connection only?
