Ive been searching through numerous posts about the right settings for smart movie for the p910i.
lonelycat games forum has some settings here however I want to use the new divX codec. I have the 6.0.2 codec and it is installed on my computer and working in smart movie.
Could anyone give me the best advanced settings for p910i for the minimum file size, im looking for about 10 mins for 10 megs.
thanks |

divX is outdated and sucks in quality, try using the XviD codec instead. It's the best video codec out there

well i have found both of those codecs but I want someone to tell me the advanced options for either of those codecs so that you get the 10 meg 10 min with the best video quality.
Could someone please post detailed instructions on either of these codecs so that the best results can be obtained.
Thanks. |

3vix is worse quality than XviD! also XviD is free and 3ivx is not!
@ the topic starter. The higher you set the bitrate the better quality you get and it also takes more space.... if you set the bitrate to lower then you'll get a smaller file...

Each to there own I suppose. I always found 3ivx set at consistant quality at about 90% was good enough as well as relativly small.

well i dwld the 3ivx but it seems to crash with my 2.76 version of smart player. I encoded at 225kbs with xvid and the quality is ok however the sound comes back really werid. Its like its playing at half speed, totally unwatchable. Im not sure whether this is just on my pc or whether it happens when its put on the p910 as I dont have a pro duo card reader yet, it should arrive on monday. Has anyone else had this problem? |

you probalby need to install LameMP3 codec. Then use XviD for the video compression and LameMP# for the audio

I doubt the P Series could handle the 225kbs, the sound issue was probably a result of the P struggling.
I used to go to 120 Max...
And as Garder mentioned... Get the Lame codec for the audio.

I was already using the lame mp3 codec but it doesnt give me an option to change my audio codec. well I tried another encode with the Xvid MPEG-4 codec and still have the same sound problem. I am now trying the 3ivx codec I have changed the audio frequency up2 44100, but on alot of forums I have been reading that the p910 has trouble playing this back and you should go for the 22000.
any ideas how you can change the audio codec in smart movie 2.76, if I upgrade to 3.13 will i have to put in my licence code again / buy a new one? |

well that seemed to have worked on my computer so 3ivx has won!!!
I was now wondering whether I need to download the 3.ivx codec to my p910 and if so where from and how do i put it on there.

you could try encoding with VirtualDub... if you have the right settings then you can watch videos encoded with it on your Pxxx.
VirtualDub is a great tool, one of the most professional encoding tools

3.13 is a free update - and it uses the new CoreMP4 codec which is MUCH better than the old codec.
I can playback movies with a bitrate of over 400kbit/s without problems on my P910.
Version 3.13 also has removed the audio bitrate limit on the P-series so you get much better audio too - just don't go overboard with the bitrates
I useually encode with a video bitrate of 200 kbit/s and an audio samplerate of 32KHz, mono or stereo, at 80kbit/sek. |

currently i use 225 bitrate and 32k stereo using the xvid codec. definately dont use divx 6 cause its slow and doesnt do a good job imo.
