From what I've heard the K800/k790 has the same music player and function, it just doesn't say 'walkman' on it. |

tbh that would be good for me - i'd rather just put 'walkman' theme on it - like what i've done with my v600i - looks rather nice actually...shame no expansion slot - then it would be THE ultimate phone

No big deal. Just buy a HPM-70 headset or one of these http://www.doml.com/productde[....]11&model=SE_W810&modeln=W810i. Then you're good to go. |

I believe SE is including the old Walkman player 1.0 (the one found on W800 up to W810/W300) in the K790/K800 since the new Walkman phones to come out in the future will have the newer Walkman player 2.0 application, like the one found on W950. |

kristianm, do you have anything to back this claim up?
To be honest, everything I have read in reviews and such has been contrary to your previous statement - saying that the K800i music player is the very latest version, only just not branded "W".

The screen is somehow washout but you can still see it if you are in direct sunlight (sun above you).

I'm not claiming what I said is fact, that's why I said "I believe . . .".
But I base it on mobile-review's statement:
Quote:

The media player obtained support for AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ files, besides the standard MP3. In our sample the interface copied Sony Ericsson W800i, but it is to be repainted from orange into black with Walkman logo permanently removed. The player is rather good, but number of additional functions as compared to Sony Ericsson W950i seems to be quite limited.

The phone is equipped with an MP3 player that is identical to the players used in all other Walkman models.

These two are the only K800 previews that I know of. Could you post other K800 review sites that you speak of contradicts my statement?

That was only for the test version. The final version will be similar but just not orange.
To be honest who cares what player it is. Its not like your getting the nice headphones with it anyway . |

kristianm, I had not read gsmarena's review, which as you say does certainly indicate that the player will be of the W800's standard.
The way that Eldar presented the media player in the review read to me that this media player was only tentative at the time of release, as he said "in our sample..."
The image to me also indicated something not quite finished. The addition of A2DP also got me thinking that a media player upgrade would have been necessary.
But as it turns out - I suppose this was very much just me speculating, as I also recall a separate image showing a different media player again, (however having now done more looking around) I probably had this confused with a separate review. Damn!
Sorry, now I'm getting us off topic. But thankyou for pointing all of that out for me, mate. I love a nice, well constructed reply!
bavlondon, you don't suppose that with Bluetooth audio streaming, more people will be looking at the K800 as a music player as well? I guess the better headphones can always be bought separately.

@BUFFBOY man you've been whining about the walkman logo in the W810 a lot-even on another thread which makes me wonder, have you even held the phone in your own hand? if you did, it doesnt even look like a sticker-the logo actually appears to have been emblazoned right into the housing during production, with a plastic layer on top of it to prevent it from scratching off. Nothing like the quickshare sticker on the K700. Only time will tell if that plastic layer does melt off if you leave the phone out in the open sun, but as Eldar put it in the W810 review, it takes a fair bit amount of effort with a knife before the plastic comes off |
