Eight Sony Ericsson W900i phones,11 days, $164,000 and three main characters.could this be the future of filmmaking?South African director Aryan Kaganof thinks so. And to prove it, he made “SMS Sugar Man,”which is billed as the world’s first feature film shot entirely on mobile phones.

@p900: Um when you look at fim costs in general thats a really cheap movie!

I saw this on one of the news sites I visit yesterday but they didn't mention what phone was used, interesting that it was W900's

@axxxr: You're late bro, I posted about this topic a month ago and no-one replied to it.

I'll probably see it when it opens in South Africa.

It's slated for release on the art-house circuit in South Africa but you guys over there might get it as a direct-to-DVD release.

@axxxr: The release date is still unspecified but it will definitely be this year.

Here's a bit from the IOL.co.za report...

Durban - Johannesburg-based production house dv8 will release SMS Sugarman, a low-budget movie filmed entirely on cellphones and financially backed by Ster-Kinekor Distribution, later this year.
