I know the smallest measuring unit for archives is the byte, after that its the kilobyte and then comes megabyte, and gigabyte. But does anyone know if it ends there or there is something bigger?. And I dare ask if a Memory stick of that capacity will be available for SE phones sometime in the future???

and after terabyte there is petabyte, exabyte, zettabyte and yottabyte
and of course, someday there will be 1YB memory sticks

Ok, Here is the complete conversion table

8 bits = 1 Byte
1024 Bytes = 1 Kilobyte
1024 Kilobytes = 1 Megabyte
1024 Megabytes = 1 Gigabyte
1024 Gigabytes = 1 Terabyte
1024 Terabytes = 1 Petabyte
1024 Petabytes = 1 Exabyte
1024 Exabyte = 1 Yottabyte

I'm sure there is more of them, but I'm not sure about the rest.

Which reminds me of a joke i read. One of Bush's aides informs him one day that 3 Brazilians have been killed. He looks really crestfallen and takes a moment to regain his composure. He turns to his aide, "how many millions is that?".

That's what people where saying about the terabyte when disc storage was measured in kilobytes, and here we are only 30 years later

we should start a thread to see who has more memory occupied on their PCs , perhaps the terabyte is really needed??

EDIT: whoops, didn't notice this thread was moved to garbage...so I finally have a garbage thread yee! (don't mind me)

Heh... I almost fell of my chair when i read it too. Anyway, people will always need storage with higher and higher capacity, that's a fact. We'll make computers with faster processors and write programs which require more memory. Even the digital photos will take up more space as pixel count increases.
