The two latest released Walkman phones (W810 & W950) supports A2DP as far as i understand.
Do you think that the old Walkmen vill be updated to support A2DP aswell?
As far as I can guess SE just left this out since they didnīt have any own accessory for A2DP at the release of W800, W550 and W900.

The New BT stereo headset uses A2DP and is not compatible with the w900i and earlier models. I hope they can update cos' im not a fan of the hpm-80. |

A bluetooth profile must also be supported in hardware by the bluetooth transceiver in the phone as far as I know
Plus the fact that their new models have A2DP is one of their selling points. Theres no reason for them to 'add' it to older phones. |

I think it's a good idea to put the A2DP in the old walkman phones, cause it'll make the sales of the wireles stereo headphones to be very good, no one has the M650, w950, k610 and all that new cellphones yet, while a lot of people have the w600, w800 and w900 and some of them would buy this new accesory. So an update with this feature would be very good and i don't think that depends on the hardware though i'm not shure. |

Well, as far as I know and from what I've heard, it is hardware dependant. So I guess we won't see this feature being added to the "older" models...

oh yeah a scam it is. at least they might want to put in the w810 as it's an upgrade to the w800/k750. who knows they mightve added the hardware already, they just left it out from the specs on the webbie to see if people ask for it in the w810, then add the software requirements at a later date via a fw update. cmon help make some noise here
it's irking how the w810 wont have it. almost perfect non-3g phone |

I did ask SE about the lack of A2DP, which is quite bad for a WALKMAN branded phone. They did spin the answer a bit (i.e. that customers didn't want it), but I can only guess that they simply didn't have the necessary hardware support at the time.
After all, the Walkman phones are little more than ordinary SE handsets with an enhanced media player. Now they have the hardware, it's filtering through to all the latest platform handsets - not just Walkman ones.

Yes, the K790 and K800 will both support A2DP.
I am sure all SE phones will from now on, proving my theory that it was a hardware limitation and not a marketing decision to keep it off beforehand (especially when other handsets that weren't even marketed as music phones had it a long time previous!).

sometimes i just don't understand SE marketing theory, because, Why don't put A2DP feature to phones that should have it by default (w810 for example). is this true that older mobiles (not W) have this feature?

I would expect most phones to have this profile, Walkman or not. It must be so cheap to implement, it would be silly to exclude it.

Maybe its because A2DP hasnt gained that much popularity until recently only. But yea, it should have been implemented on all phones.. imagine a walkman phone that cant stream music.

As I recall, SE only introduced A2DP into phones when they had a headset capable of using it. At the time of the W810, not too many manufacturers had phones with A2DP and nor were there very many headsets available either
I don't think SE were too far behind introducing this profile
