M600, K610 and now W950... this is painful.. I don't know what to buy next!
But I have narrowed my choices. P990 is out of the question. Too bulky. I liked the M600 and W950 very much. Nice for a second phone. As for the K610, seems like an updated K750, and I'd rather wait for the real K750 successor.

Now comes the question.. M600 or W950?

The phones are pretty identical in design and size with almost the same functionality. The question is, does the W950 have the same UIQ functionality as the M600? is the W950 OS limited? can applications be added to make it a fully functional OS?

If both have the same OS, I would say the W950 is the winner(at least for me). Although I'm not a music on the go person, the 4GB surpasses any need for any MS support as there is simply no 4GB MS cards(right now at least) and no M2 cards larger than 1GB.

The other difference is the keypad. I've never used a qwerty phone before, so it's a little bit hard to decide. On one hand QWERTY is nice, but on the other, i start to question the small buttons, and if the double sided buttons will be efficient for texting. But when you think of it.. predictive text(in the W950) is not bad at all with the presence of hand recognition.

Anyway, my prefernce swings in favour for the W950 because of the 4GB, BUT it all depends on the OS. If the W950 will be a stripped down OS, then clearly there would be a bigger difference between the phones and i would be more undecided between the two!

I might have missed some stuff, but i think i mentioned the most distinctive differences between the two. In any case, any discussions about the differences of both phones are welcomed.

funny, I was just thinking of posting the same topic, mate

I agree with all that, and my personal winner is the w950! hope there will be some more details and pictures and reviews of both so that we can compare better.

W950 all the wayyyyyy!!! (but the lack of camera in both models is a bad con). Next top Sony Ericsson models will have 3.2megapixel cameras (Sharp 903 already has it!) so I can't stand the fact that these two phones -wich are soooo cooool- are manufactured without it (not even a 1.3 or 2 megapixel! Nothing at all!)

yeah i wanna get the w950...!

i think i need some more specs, details and pics etc to decide whether to actually get it or not. i'm not actually bothered about a camera actually, if it does when it finally comes out, fair enough! but i not too bothered at the moment. i really like the idea of having my own little walkman pda yay!

i'll stick with my W900i, at least its got a camera and makes video calls, neither of these phones appeal to me at all!!!

Also, 4 and 8gb ms duo's are due to be released. Where as M2's are like going backwards and starting again with a 64Mb?!?! [addsig]

I have only seen the release but the W950i makes the W900i look like the brick it is and about 5 years out of date already!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

I'm going to wait for the "K800" or whatever its name will be - if it will ever be released. Having a K700 I wait for a real leap forward, which means a really good camera like in the k750 or better on top of what the newer phones have to offer.

It appears now that because of such a late release of the P990, it is just becoming shadowed by these 2 phones, cameras are losing their apeal now so people are happy just doing without. I recon the P990 will probably flop now SE have in a sence competed with themselves.

I will probably go for the W950... It looks sweet.

has anyone else not been concerned by the lack of soft keys on both the m600 and the w950 how is this going to impact navigation, I noticed it to on the flipless p990i but not to much of a problem as the flip has them, but nothing on the m and w ones????

any thoughts,

yes, but how often do you want to pull out a stylus to do something, I know it has a jog dial, but if you look at the screen shots, it has options for selection on the bottom of the screen as if though one should use soft keys to select, ala k750i, w900i, etc.. but these phones have, none, thats my point, and soft keys would make selecting stuff alot easier,

&
check out these pics and you'll see what I mean, its built into the OS, but funny there is no soft keys to do the selection, unless they implement some ingenious way of using the numeric keypad as buttons :-0

You have the jogdial instead of the softkeys.

8GB memory stick duo? no thanks, not buying anything that is priced more than the device its used in.
