R5BC004 is latest version still. I suspect SE have abandoned this phone. Menu speed is still terrible but you can disable 3G as long as you've got the right CDA set. (Check a few pages back in this thread for how)

does this firmware have the thumbnail view while searching through videos as i just read somewhere that someone had this. and this maybe a very stupid question but will it be at all possible for w850 firmware to be flashed onto w900 meaning walkman v2.0 (like with p910 firmware onto p900)

Hi,

I've just upgrade my W900i to R5BC004 and since then I've not been able to connect to any internet services via my laptop over dial-up. I've had the Vodafone WAP services reconfigured on my phone but it still doesn't work. The handset authenticates when I dial-up and I get an IP address from Vodafone but if I ping a known host on the net I don't get a response. The laptop will resolve names but I don't get any further than the second hop if I do a trace route to a host.

I've called VF customer care and they have advised me the problem is either with my laptop of my handset.

Has anyone any advise?

Thanks

Nick

Who are you with? t-mobile? What OS are you using?

If you can already access your wap pages then you only have to set up your DUN.

First of all, get your WAP settings from the website.

I'm with VF and I'm running XP.

I've just been to SE's web site and sent myself the settings. Ta.

Couple of questions regarding W900 firmware:

I want to flash my w900i with wotanserver to R5BC004 firmware so I can turn off 3G to improve battery life, and also silence the camera shutter sound.

Currently I have the Hong Kong firmware, R5BB001
CDA string is: CDA123456/123 R2A

I want English language obviously, but I'm not sure which FS files to choose. I take it there isn't one for Australia? I understand that if you don't have the right CDA for the region you're in, you can't update via SEUS for future updates. How important would this be, anyway? Are they even going to come out with future updates for this phone?

Since the FS files that you have to choose all have English, do they just default to English? For example, if I chose the Singapore firmware that has English in it, will I just get English as the default language on my phone, with no problems?

And last question, I read that some people have the R5BC004 firmware, but still no option to disable 3G. Is it necessary to tick the box that says "Enable full-featured Networks Menu (2G/3G)" on the Wotanserver client program?

Any help is appreciated.

Edit: Didn't know it, but I can actually turn off the shutter sound when in silent mode already. So I guess I only really need to update the firmware to be able to disable 3G. Has anyone witnessed first hand just how much the battery life is improved by doing this? Is it worth the risk of flashing the phone?
