Alright guys, I think this is the phone to have this year, my K750's build quality has let me down. The phone itself is is great, good design but the joystick and certain buttons have stopped working, somethinkg thats never happened to me in the past.
However, I'm loving the look of this new Nokia N80, design, functionality what more could you want.
So please feel free to post pictures, thoughts and any new information you might find.
Cheers

it will be my next fone, thats for sure. mainly cos of that beautiful screen ( do loved it in n90 i used for a while ). my only fear is that slider feature... anyway, happy to see, that there is no slider at the back, it drove me crazy once at 6680 and now at n70. its so useless imo and disturbing at usage.

Nokia N80 - Coming soon
-
Expected early 2006. The Nokia N80 is Nokia's first 3 megapixel cameraphone. It's also the world's first handset to feature Universal Plug and Play technology. The N80 can be used as a remote control for wirelessly swapping content between compatible PCs, audio equipment and TVs. For example, images and video stored on the N80 or on a compatible PC can be viewed on a TV, while music from the N80 can be played through an audio system. The N80 also has a high resolution 352x416 pixel display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, video capture with digital video stabilization. its a bit hard to believe, that a 3mp cam is worse then these...
next to it, i like to decide on my own, what accepteable and whats not. mob-rew is suggestive and individual, its just one opinion next to the others, even eldar is a respected person in my eyes...

1st Do Not trust everything that Mobile-Review posts about any S60 phone, as with all reviews there are a few things off.
>Now to SE Rules or anyone else considering their first S60 device PLEASE go through the many pages on this site in the Other Manufacturers Thread about Nokia Users. Even though the core OS is VERY different you'll get a sense of what issues with apps that load & dont and when to suspect when a virus is involved. I also highly recommend looking at the a sites.com site as there is a HUGE review (constantly updated) of Virii on the S60 phones. This done by someone whom has 2 different S60 OS phones just to test new apps virii; very helpful.
>>Now on to the N80. I'm sorry this phone although amazing, has NO autofocus (unless I'm mistaken that its called by some other name). Also without access to the WiFi access points almost ALL apps in S60 require a GPRS/EDGE/3G connection; no1 is sure if current apps that require data connection WILL or WILL NOT be able to use the N80's WiFi (802.11g) Connection if connected, seamlessly. This is a big concern to me.
Now for everyday usuage for say 5+ months. The design will outlast boredom at least, but for phone calls .... are you ready to deal with raising & lowering volume in conversations with your thumb inbetween the screen/keypad and your cheek? Thats right no dedicated volume keys like SE phones ... you must use the joypad for this. Only 3 S60 phones offer possible dedicated volume keys on the side of the phone (Nokia's 6260, N90, and Samsungs 720). Doesnt seem like much; but without a bluetooth headset it'll be annoying.
The connectors all seem unnecessarily tall in height when connected to the bottom of the phone. Not a big deal, but in your front pocket it'll be an escalation of sorts.
Just a few thoughts you'll need to live with. But WiFi is a seriously sweet touch that I'll instead leave for the W810a for .... I prefer excellent music to always data surfing. (there are times on the way to work that I'm in a subterrainian subway that no WiFi connections are allowed or possible for the present time & foreseeable future). |

Indeed, the usage is individual. I dont take care of wifi and extra volume keys. I do love n70 cos its damn fast on 3g, the same with n80.

I know there is a threat of viruses with symbian phones, but to be air the way technoplogy is evolving, soon any phone os will have their fair share of viruses, also I'm pretty sure that practically any java program will run on S60, so I'm not sure how many downsides there are to this phone.
On a seperate note, I know its asking a lot, but I can't finds a size comparison of this phone with a small phone like the K750, the esato size comparison isnt amazing...
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers guys

i dare to say its almost the double size of it, but its accepteable. for me 6680 and n70 are the most optimal fone sizes.
