It was very sensitive about manipulation, and would sometimes disconnect (both cable and headset). After cleaning the contacts with a lens cleaning cloth (97% isopropanol) the problems dissappeared. My guess is that the plastic packaging material the phone came in contaminated the contacts (put a thin polymer film on them). Do be carefull when cleaning (no brush or other abrasive tools), a thin cloth(corner) saturated with isopropanol will do the trick (those cleaning cloths used to clean lenses and glasses -instanet is one brand- work like a charm).
