My W800's fastport is becoming problematic now, after having the phone for four months now. Often I need to firmly reconnect the HPM-70 a few times to the fast port before the phone detects it properly. Sometimes the phone detects it (and therefore activates the Handsfree profile), but touching/applying a little pressure to the fastport connector affects the volume of the earphones.

This also applies at times when I use the USB cable and Windows doesn't detect the device.

Anyone having similar problems? Is this kind of thing covered by SE's warranty?

I get that too. Cleaning the contacts seems to fix it for a few months. If you clean the contacts, don't use anything that will scratch the contacts it will ony make the problem worse.

Same here after only 2 months!! Mine's gotton so bad I can hardly get the charger to connect. I have to manipulate it to the point where it works, and then instead of staying connected it often cycles ona and off! Arrrgggghhhh!! And if you can't charge the phone then you're really stuffed! I'm also having connection problems with my HPM-70 and my HPB-60 headphones and also my USB cable. Some days I nearly give up in frustration trying to get my headphones to keep working!

The problem seems to be in the wear on the connector points on the bottom of the phone. I've cleaned them with a cotton bud, but I'm considering using metho.

What worries me is that SE will probably say that this is "wear and tear" and therefore not cover it under their warranty. But even if they did, what would stop a new handset developing the same problem in a couple of months?

about the wear and tear, that's exactly what I thought. Why bother having it replaced when it will go the same way in such a short time.

btw, try isopropyl alcohol, that seems to clean it up for a while.

I have noticed that the problem seems to be with the cable also, since using a cable that doesn't get used often works better than the original cable I use most of the time. But that's not the whole answer, as cleaning the phone contacts also helps.

I found the best thing for cleaning contacts is a pencil eraser. Always had the same problem with my Nokia 6210. I havent had any trouble with my W800i yet.

using the CLA-60(fastport car charger).... it sometimes disconnects by itself (the one of the two prongs).... it is INDEED a POORLY designed connector. I dont remember this happening to my P900 before (with the old connnector). I sure wished that SE should have tested it thoroughly before adopting a change....

No problems here. I have the K750i, W800i and now the W900i.

I'm still using the same charger for the three phones. Wear and tear should be more than double the usual but my fast port connector still looks and behaves the same way I first used it.

Mine is just a little over 3 months and now the headset sometime's acting up. I have to firmly plug it in or i'll only get a mono sound.

They should have thought a more effecient kind of connector for the headset...like a direct 3.5mm connector for sound....a power connector like nokia for charging..and a mini usb for pc interface...

whewwww.. just a thought.

In my experience, users that carry their phones in their pockets have much more problems in this respect than those that carry their phones in a holster. I have an ICE-25, never have any problems like this... I had my K700 for almost a year in it most of the time and when I got my 750 and gave my 700 to my 15 y/o son, it was so perfectly kept he simply could not believe I had used it before him.
