K750 > R1AA008 > Hissing sound when making phone calls |

I'm surprised how few people there are who makes noice about the new bug in R1AA008... hence this new thread!
There's an irritating hissing sound in the ear speaker when talking on the phone. When the volume is turned up (real loud) you can't hear it, but when turning the volume down (half and less) the hissing starts. The lower the volume is set, the more hissing there is. Sometimes there's a ticking sound and sometimes the other persons voice is cut off and you can't hear what he/she is saying.
This bug is almost the same as with T610 a couple of years ago...
I know R1AA008 fixed some bugs, but the introduction of the hissing bug is terrible since talking on the phone is the main feature and (probably for most people) the main reason for buying a phone.
This has got to be fixed pronto!
@masseur
If you find it a bad idea to create a new thread about this, feel free to close it and point it to the "Esato K750 - W800 Firmware Overview" thread instead. I just wanted to get peoples attention on this terrible bug so we all together can make SE aware of the problem by reporting it. A phone with a hissing sound while talking on it is useless for most people... other bugs are important, but this is different! |

I'm just thinking that this went out of SE hands... they can't handle the product, they can't provide the promoted functionality and most certainly, they can't fix it with new FirmWare releases...
Hope everyone will hate them so much that their sales will drop and some heads, in a point, all over the globe, will go out rolling... jobless, hungry, suffering, and just paying for stealing our money.

If they broke it with new firmware, they can fix it with newer firmware. I've noticed this problem too, and it's damn right irritating... they better fix it with the next firmware version.
I've noticed that it's worse on full volume, but when i put it down a bar... it's practically gone. |

And they still have to increase the in-call volume!!!
But ok. Many people get really angry if they buy a phone and it is so bad for making phone calls, like me.
So increase the volume please!! And the Quality!
Better than in R1AA008.

Guys.. if you base on previous experiences; other FW updated only introduced new bugs, so you can't SIT waiting for maybe a fix of the bugs, since this won't happen anytime soon (probably never; the phone will be getting older and older), so SE will be focused in other products by that time, and this will be left behind with all those bugs...
I state this because, considering SE incompetence in releasing firware, I'd say it's virtually impossible for them to fix ALL THE BUGS found by users in these forums + ALL improvements users propose (louder sound, better sound quality, better camera, java certificates, anything) with a new FW release.
So, the best you can go is up to R1L002. If you are above it, then... you are way worse.

I have been having the same problem ever since I updated my K750i to R1AA008. I am sure SE will fix this bug with a newer FW, but I hope they come out with the newer FW sooner than later. If you guys have noticed, SE always takes a longer time interval to release the newer FW than the time interval they had had for the previous FW version. |

how weird!
i have downloaded the R1AA008 on my O2-UK branded K750i using the SEUS and have no hissing noise or anything like that at all!
would have been nice if the earpiece was louder though generaly!

I had this problem too and I was going to send the phone to SE USA for repairs but last minute I decided to try downgrading the firmware to R1N using DaVinci. Going back to R1N got rid of the hissing & sound getting cut out.
It's one thing to bitch about memory card issues but when the main purpose of the phone is affected that is unacceptable.

I agree, the damn call volume is still too LOW!! I still have to put it on maximum just to barely hear the person. It has to be dead silent in the room for me to even hear anyone talk.
Most people don't hear the hissing sound is because there's no point in putting the volume below 5 bars because then we can't hear shit. So basically, I doubt anyone cares about the hissing since no one goes below 5 bars.... that's basically mute. |

for me, the volume is just right on 2-3 bars.
over 5 its so loud - hurts ears..
but i have to put it over 5 bars, otherwise there is that stupid hissing. of course, the hissing disappears somehow when using headset. but that is annoying to do
i think there is something seriously wrong with k750/w800 (sound-driver?) software, or how can it work for some ppl, so they dont notice the quality degrade?
is there different hardware versions of the phone?
and pls, anyone who has the phone, turn your volume lower than 5 bars (ie 2-3) and try to call. if the "hissing" like sound is there, pls take some time and send bug report from the support page of sonyericsson.com.
the feedback page is not hard to find - from main page support->select region->contact us->select "phones" from "by e-mail">select right phone model->describe problem, add your contact addr etc->send
when there are more reports, they will fix it faster.
SE does not read this forum, and it is not official forum, so they couldnt care less, what is written here.
(double posted last part, it is on 290-page topic too, but i guess not all dare to read so long topic... )

I do think that ALL phones with R1AA008 have the hissing/"voice getting cut off" and "ticking" sound in them!
Some people just don't make enough phone calls to notice/care about it (and some do it with the volume at the highest bar which gives less problems).
I'm sure if ALL people took some time turning the volume down and make a phone call in a quite surrounding, then they would understand the problem.
This is a disaster - I use the phone mainly for conversations, so it's got to be fixed real soon!
Please gather around and contact SE support asap! |

Well, I put the volume to 4 bars, no hissing, put it to 3, nothing, 2, nothing, 1 nothing.
I don't have any hissing problems. Sounds the same as if it's up on maximum.
What does the hissing sound like? Is it loud? Does it sound like static? or just "hisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss" constant? |

I second the motion!
me too... SMART Network Manila Philippines... no hissing during calls... distorted at sumtym but it only happens when the signal is poor. obviously its logical.
anywho... still contended by far with this new FW. as wot ive said in my previous posts... if you dont find any good with this latest FW then change yer phone! im a hardcore SE fanatic. company is good... phones are nice... im not a techno geek but i know as far as IM concern... its worth tha shellout.

I think we all find many good things with the latest firmware, but many of us have the hissing sound/"voice getting cut off" while using the main feature of the phone (i.e. making phone calls). I honestly don't see a reason for us to change phone - instead I see a reason for SE to fix the problem! Or THEY will have to exchange our phones! |
