Can I humbly suggest having a separate forum for the P990?

Aren't we really talking about a completely different phone? Not just because it supports 3G, wi-fi, etc, and has a different physical arrangement, but also because, as we're aware, UIQ 3 offers no backwards compatiblity for the apps we'll run on it.

When the P990 finally does make its appearance, I think it's going to be confusing for all concerned to mix up P990-specific threads with those for the earlier Pees.

What do others think?

Separate *forum* I'm talking about. Ie, one for the P990, another for the P800, P900 and P910.

I must agree. There should be, if not now but in the near future, a separate P990 forum.

Yup, good idea. Not a month or so before the phone actually comes out though, I'd say.

more common sence i think. p990 has a completely different OS. Ok the P-series look alike but the p990 is totally different on the inside. All the software that works on a p910 will not work on a p990.

The deal is, posts relating to the P990 will be of no or little relevance to those for the earlier Pees, and vice versa. So why mix 'em? It's just a pragmatic suggestion!

It may be rehashed, but it's running on a totally different OS. Hence stuff isn't interchangeable, and hence we need to be able to have a seperate section for it.

Is it so hard to post a topic: (P990) Help! Can't work out what the number buttons are for in Calculator!? or (P910) Help! I'm going to rant, moan and winge about something completely obvious! etc?

Although I see the point in it being a newer version of the OS, I doubt alot of the principles are going to change dramatically. Besides, technically the P800 runs a different version of UIQ as well.

Most users posting usually state what phone they're having an issue with in their post so it shouldn't be that hard for us to work it out. (besides I can guess most answers now.. don't care, its a firmware problem, they'll never fix it, they hate us... )

I think it would be good, all the encodes will also be of a higher standered for the P990 (dur to the processing power and the screen resolution), therefore it will be confusing to have to multiple encodes posted in the current Music Videos etc thread. Also all the software issues and all that rubbish, I think this current P Series section of the forum will just get overloaded with duplicate threads (one for the current P Series collection and one for the P990)

Although the P800 had a different version of UIQ, all or most of the software still runs on the P900/910, so it still related to the other phones as well.
