K700 can be used as webcam with an app installed on PC. So i think k750 and w800 also can be used as that. You need to search 4 that kind of app.

I didn’t know that there was such a program till I came across this thread, but after hearing about it I was determined to find it and finally found out that the program you are looking for is called “K700 Webcam” which can be downloaded from here. The link is for ver 1.7 which supports K750/W800 as well. I downloaded and yet to test it... Enjoy!

Gave it a try, but couldn’t get it working…. It says that it is taking a picture, saving and then going to standby mode bla, bla… but the screen is blank and nothing happens. It seems to me that this doesn’t actually act as a streaming camera, rather like a still cam that takes photos at regular intervals and upload to the PC… I could be wrong here, but by the settings it looks to me like that. If any one of you guys get it working please let us know. Thanks.

Ok, got it working… now it takes pictures and displays them on screen and then saves on hard drive. What next ? I thought this can be used with a chat application or something like that. But I’m afraid it is not possible because this application does not act as a capture device or installs a capture device driver. However you can upload the photos taken with it to a remote ftp server so I guess this can be used as some sort of a remote surveillance application…

@ vanquish and others who are saying go buy a webcam

Aren’t you guys interested to find out what new things you can do with your phone ? I am not trying to use this as a webcam for real. But I like to explore the possibilities and play around with it.
Lets assume for a moment this works as a webcam. Who knows …. One day you might run in to a situation where you are really in need of a web cam but cant find one, however if you knew that you can use your phone as a webcam wouldn’t that be something ??

Cool , if you somehow manage to stream video from phone please let us know. BTW I’m interested in knowing how you are going to do it.... Is there a public API or something provided by SE to access phone functions?

Streaming video to use as webcam cant be done on K700, partly because of the lowspeed interface to computer, partly because of limitations in java access to functions on the phone.

But with the new fastport interface, and less limitations in java access to phone funtions, it might just be possible on K750/W800

Propably just need a good programmer to write an application for it.
