Double click on My Computer, go to Tools->Folder Options and open the View tab. Untick "Hide file extensions for known file types". That way you get to see what the extension is.

while your in the folder options you can always add a file extension of .config ect ect... then just tell it to open with wordpad/notepad.

Meanes you can name the file .config and it won't add the .txt extension because it knows what it is.

Thats what i did anyways.

Now this is the way to report a problem . I'm a bit tired saying this over and over again: read the faq and do exactly as it says, check every step. As You can see on your screens, the log says NO_CONF_FILE and Your conf file is "text type". Turn "hide file extensions" off and rename the file because currently it's not unbrander.conf as it should be, it's unbrander.conf.txt.

About the "Your provider doesn't allow..." error. Currently I don't know how to overcome that. It seems that some phones have been flashed with a firmware that doesn't support updating using SEUS and the only way to unbrand them is to flash them in a service centre.

I think this has been written before, but I'll repeat, just to be sure: unbranding/updating is only possible when You use the sync-station (DSS-20 or DSS-25). You can't do it using bluetooth, irda or a serial cable.

EDIT:
Huh, I should have refreshed the topic before entering an answer .

Nice find, mate! Just debranded a Vodafone UK P910i from CDA162006/16 to CDA162005/3 ...

Word of warning folks - if you have more than one SE phone (I own a K750i too) make sure you delete the patched SEMCXUSB.dll and restore the SEMCXORG.dll back!!!

cooool tip! thx HOWEVER, as I had not used the update software b4, I tried that first b4 trying the debranding and everything went ok apart from it locking my phone again! (it had been unlocked previously) so now I can't get into my phone however I did note that it does not need to fully boot the phone to update so I tried the unbranding as described - actually couldn't believe it was so simple - it worked. No SE boot logo now - Still locked though!!!!! grrr going to phone shop 2morrow to sort that out!

Many thanks - I didn't belive it but it did work!

This is a firewall/java/browser problem. Try it with another browser (opera, firefox), try reinstalling java or check Your firewall settings. If that doesn't help, download the seus from emule .

Let me add my thanks to Dr DV for this. Just a few thoughts...

I actually did all the copying of the .dll and renaming etc after SEUS downloaded and installed 1.18 to the computer (actually I got 1.19 installing on another machine I tried it on). Then I continued with the process.

I'm not sure if it would have worked if I hadn't but this wasn't very clear in the guide. I did have the 118 installer already on my computer as well but realised if the update site was doing another install, as it insisted on doing, then it was going to overwrite all the files again.

Also one major caveat. My phone was originally unlocked on all networks, now it is locked again back to Orange!
