Have You tried the Recovery Mode? If it doesn't work, maybe Vodafone phones are somehow protected... I don't know really, but my friend has a Vodafone Germany branded p910i and he is going to unbrand, so maybe we figure something out. |

What you say to download the SEUS service - how do you do this? When I use the SE website to update my firmware it seems to be doing it all from the site rather than downloading an app to my PC? |

Ignore that. I see how it works now. |

Excellent - it works perfectly. Although to be honest, once you've installed Sony Desktop there isn't much if any difference between the branded phone and non-branded phone anyway.
One thing – when I start the phone up, I still get a little grey rectangle saying “Welcome to Orange”. How do I get rid of that?

Is that just your user greeting?

Ok... I tried it also and works fine for me now... Much better
and even faster - I'm missing some features of the branding... |

No, that's turned off - it's some orange thing. I guess if the phone's been zapped with non-branded firmware then that only leaves the SIM card as the culprit? |

This may be something that got restored from the backup made, when You had the previous firmware version. But now, that Your phone is debranded You may delete it. |

Funny thing (not really).
I just followed the procedure, and it worked prefectly. However, I've got a problem - my phone re-locked to ERA network. I had my SIM lock off, and now I'm stuck wit the "Wrong SIM" message.

I seem to have half debranded mine. Boot screen is now Sony Ericsson but I still have a menu entry for vodafone SMS alerts. I installed firmware CDA162005/1 but it has put R5A02 version on.
What about trying to flash without a SIM card?
Would that stop this vodafone flavour firmware being installed?
