if a total is £29.38, and theres a 5% discount, what would the new total be?

also if anyone knows a formulae i could use to work out the final total

i can get the formulae to equal 29.38, but im not sure how to reduce the price by 5%

your doing it wrong, the vat is the last thing that you calculate, the discount should be calcualted on the orginal price excluding vat

yes now this is what you need to type
Discount is (price x quantity) * Discount (%)
Vat is ((price x quantity) - discount) * 0.175
Final total is (price * quantity) - discount + VAT

or do i need to put "sub-total" between "discount" and "vat" to make it easier to calculate?

yeah with sub total equalling price * quantity
