Anyone seen one of these in person:

Curious to know what the software looks like. Also not sure if it's got a memory slot, although I doubt that it's a MemStick if it does...

we have this problem here in the middle east / iraq region.
in fact its gotten so bad that phones like the new popular 6680 are selling for $400 flat and the dealer tells you that this is NOT the original finland model.

i am trying to find the service menu command so i can perhaps try to tell if i am getting the real thing or a fake...

That's quite funny in the pics of the phone, the W800 almost looks better. Except the specs will obviously be crap, but it seems to have a larger screen, by quite a considerable amount!

Again I ask. What are the copyright laws in China? Have they heard about intelectual property rights or is it just a free-for-all.

Earlier this year I saw a story on the wires with Chines car manufacturers doing a simliar thing, ripping off designs from famous car makers.

I've been to Mainland China.

I would say that it's definitely a free-for-all. They copy virtually anything. From chocolates to TV sets. From cellular phones to cars.

Right now, it is still possible to detect which is a knock-off from the real thing. Give the chinese a few more years and they will become so good at copying that we will need an expert to determine the original product from the copy.

But I thought them joining the World Trade Organisation would stop this nonsense.

Damn, seems like the Chinese have no shame.

Legitimate chinese businessmen operate like any other multi-national corporation. It's the underground/fly-by-night businesses that are violating all the copyright laws.

More pics.

This seems to be a different one, the "K128" by the infamous "MP4" brand.

You can see the features there.

LOL! It is just a little bigger than the original.

Compared to the original, it looks cheap! And what's up with the fake Walkman logo? Looks like they turned the original one upside down.

I wonder if we will be seeing these on Ebay?

Theres adverts out from Blokia and Samsung in the papers here telling people to beware of copies and what to look for on originals. Though must say some of the copies Ive seen are better than the original ..
