I had this problem. The problem is caused by the Update Service not completing the update fully. Your Media Player probably affected too, my screen used to go blank when you turned the volume up or down. Unfortuneately the only way to resolve this is to return the phone to where it was purchased or to a Sony Ericsson Repair Centre. They will then revert the firmware back to a previous one, then you will have to use the SEUS service again to get the latest firmware. Its a lengthy procedure, took me about a month to get my phone back, but my phone is now working perfectly!
PS. Its probably a quicker service in the UK as I do live in Ireland and we do things backwards over here!
Good Luck

Have you tried SEUS in recovery mode?

If you can't reflash a phone with the same fw it already has it sounds like a flaw in SEUS imho.
I thought that was what recovery mode in SEUS was for.
