1GB Pro Duo reading & Formatting Problem |

I have just bought a 1GB Pro Duo for my p900 with the P910 firmware upgrade. The card works in the phone but I cannot read it on my Sony Vaio via a Memory stick Adaptor. Also it wont allow me to format it via the PC either.
Can anyone help as I need to transfer my files over to the 1GB card from my PC.
I havent however tried he Adapter that came with the 1GB but have tried the one that came with my 128mb card if that will make a difference?
Cheers.

What card reader did you try it with? If possible, use Sony's MSAC- US30 or even the MobileMate (Sandisk). The VIAO might have issues if the cards' corrupt. > Did the upgrade (900-> 910) work seamlessly ?

I used the Sony MSAC-M2 that came with the 128mb pro duo that I bought a while ago. I also used a dazzle 6 in 1 card reader but a mate thinks it would work using a USB 2.0 card reader?
The upgrade was fine on the phone and the 1GB card works ok in the phone but just not on the laptop. |

Okay- maybe this isnt a solution to the orig'nal issue but- could you just let the card remain in phone and transfer stuff thru a :b: Blue Tooth (Dongle) or something. Can the card be formated in the phone? The Vaio and the adapter you mentioned should otherwise read Duo

Yep it formated ok in the phone and I have sent over some files already via the link cable havent tried bluetooth yet but the movie and music files being rather large will take a month of sundays.
Hopefully skipping out of work for a short period today to try a mates card reader to see if that one works. Fingers Crossed |

Its driving me mad now. I borrowed my mates USB2 card reader and it finds the Pro Duo and then opens the folders but after about 30seconds it drops the link and then says that there is no card installed. If it carries on all electronic items on my desk will be out of the window.

For give me if I'm getting all of this wrong, but I just have to ask. Are you using an adaptor with your PRO Duo when it's inserted into your PC or card reader?

Yes I am using the one that came with my 128MB card. I havent however used the one that came with the 1GB card so i dont know if there is some difference there or not?
I have also tried it in the USB2 card reader with and without the adaptor just to see if there was a problem there. |

Several clients of mine had sad experiences with their PRO Duo's when they tried using it without the adaptors. As you know, it'll fit into the card reader/writer's slot even without the adaptor, but it will be loose. In this state, the contacts inside the reader/writer might not touch the correct contacts on the PRO Duo.
If you did insert your PRO Duo into a card reader/writer without the adapter, I can only assume that your MS has been damaged and that is why you are experiencing all this problems.

Well I did put it into the phone first then a few times into my laptops memory card slot with the adaptor and it didnt work then either. after trying it in different variations with and without the adaptor it still works in the phone.
THink I am going to wait until i get home to try out the adaptor that came with it before I throw the machine out of the window. |

I know that Sony/Sandisk has a 1 year warranty on their products. Why don't you try having it replaced instead of throwing it out.
As I posted, several clients had sad experiences with the MS PRO Duo. All of them managed to have it replaced by the reseller.

If I understood the last thing that was said I would probably have agreed but i dont speak Klingon.
I am going to purchase a USB2 Card reader today to see if I can solve the problem as I doubt its to do with the 1gb PRO Duo as it works fine in the phone.
Cheers for all your help on this and if anyone does have anymore info please shout.
regards
