@nokiamaniax

Have you attempted to use a different recover disk? How far beyond the BIOS does it let you get? Can you use F8 to activate the menu for Safe Mode?

I've got a nasty feeling that you're in deep trouble I'm afraid. That error often means that either the hard drive has failed altogether, it's lost the partition or it's lost the Master Boot Record. Either way, you need to get the hard drive out of the laptop and get it on an external hard drive reader to recover your data and attempt repairs.

Obviously, most people don't have a 2.5" external HDD reader handy so I think you'd be best to take your laptop in for repair. If possible, take it to a local shop and make it VERY clear that you want your data saving. If you send it off to a service centre or such like, they'll almost certainly just stick a new HDD in and not transfer your data over!

Of course it might not be that bad, It's dificult to diagnose faults in a forum but from experience, it certainly sounds like one of the above problems

something very similar happened to me last week, my mac wouldnt boot up, in the end it was the hd. What I did was buy a new one fit it then put my old one into the SPARE 2.5 housing I had lol and pluged it into usb after I booted on the os onto my new one, then used a program jools recomended, which worked a treat. Now I have all my data on my new hdd, and a spare 60gb mini exteranl hdd.

To stop this from happening again I bought a 250gb lacie hd off ebay for £72 inc del and partitioned it into 3 sectors, one genral use, back up and bootable sector in case my new hd fails. Good luck
Check out my sales
I am a mac fanboy .
I will honor Laffens gift of P990 flip free avartar, but I sold the p990
