Hi!
The end of this thread is to make a list of bugs and fixes that any user experiencies of w800 firmware in order to have them ALL listed in the same topic. I'm starting with the R1N00A (currently, the latest), so anyone thinking about upgrading know what they'll be facing. Also, if SE reads these forums (as I read in a post that they do...) they will know where to look to do some bloody fixing! I'll go updating it as long as you add new bugs to the list. Please colaborate! Between brackets I'll put other firmware version if they're also found there.
R1NA005
- FIXED: Earphones volume is higher
- FIXED: MegaBass (TM) doesn't distort the sound when it's higher than 5, 6 bars (R1N035)
- Camera has less quality when taking pictures that before
- Hiss when playing music at low levels (R1N035)
- Phone resets sometimes when pausing currently playing videos and also, after some time, for large videos, an "Error playing" message appears when playing (R1N035)
- Settings for Shuffle & Looping for videos are not saved
- Clicks (pops) when skipping tracks
- Sending files over Bluetooth crashes sometimes
- Memory stick corruption when copying files; they just dissapear or are copied corrupted over USB cable (R1N035)
- Direct access to MP3 by pressing a number (letter) doesn't work anymore
- Wrong signalling bars; phone in "Emergency Mode" while bars are still full (R1N035)
- When stopping MP3 / Radio, then pressing the Volume buttons, instead of showing the "Phone Status" sometimes the volume shows up
- Files deleted from the Media Player aren't deleted and have to be done over file manager
- Backlight when playing videos and pausing sometimes doesn't go off after a while
- Flash Lite files can't be opened anymore (R1N035)
- Last played audio keeps showing in media player even if they were deleted; when trying to play them, the "Playback failed" messages comes up (R1N035, R1L002)

1. if you turn on bluetooth, and you try to send a 3gp (or anything I'm not sure) file from memory stick, the phone freezes and u need to remove the battery. the right thing to do is turn off the bluetooth and send, and let the phone turn the bluetooth on and off automatically.
2. walkman volume is still too low. I live in a megacity with 15m people, not stockholm. SE software engineers should set their normal hearing volume at 4 or 5 bars, so i could set mine at 10 and still hear something.
3. Can't upload more than 15 songs at a time.
4. Picture quality seems to have gone down.

Sir Dan_Aykroyd,
I am abit confused, were you referring to the new R1NA005 or the older one R1N0035? Because you had the new firmware underlined but on several items on the list you had the old firmware in parenthesis. Are those bugs present in the old or the newer firmware sir? Thanks

ok these are the bugs i found in the new R1NA005 if i'm correct. the one released in the third week of octobre.
anyways i found a lot of bugs untill now:
1.)camera quality has gotten worse. with the old software i could make pictures without using the night mode when there was less light. now if i try this i get cheap pictures that look like are made by a cheap webcam. although this problem goes away if i use the night mode, it gives a lag on my screen using nightmode. so actually the camera has gotten less sensitive to light and i have to use night mode earlier.
2.)the mega bass option has been totally screwed. i can't hear the difference between the drums and the basses. really shitty. it worked really good with the old firmware.
3.)i hear this weird sound, it's not very loud, and very hard to hear. but you can hear it if you pause a song. or listen to the beginning of a song. you hear a sound like there is wind coming through some hole.
4.)i don't see the thumbnails of some pictures in the 'camera pictures' directory, they are just black. i can see them in all other directories i have made on my memorystick.
5.)as far as i know the memorystick bug still exists and give corruption when transfering files, or sometimes even doesn't copy any files at all to the memorystick
6.)ringtone volume it too low, i mean it's on the hardestoption (8) and still i can't hear it sometimes. really bad this.
7.)i have also noticed that sometimes when i use the remote or send a file and bluetooth is automatically turned on, it stays on after i have stopped sending or using the remote. i have to go into the menu and disable it manullay. this doesnt' always happen but happens sometimes. in the last firmware bluetooth was turned off automatically after you quit using the service
8.)in the last firmware i could actually find songs in my track list by pressing some letter and i would go to the songs/artists (depending on how i sorted the songs) starting with that letter (just like you find names in your adressbook) but that option isn't in this firmware anymore.
9.) and there is still this annoying sound even in silent mode when you take pictures or make a video, can't turn it off
although the positive thing is the battery life has been much better. but there is still a lot of bugs to get fixed. lets hope SE does a good job this time

Well, I keep updating them...
The sound of the shutter not coming off is a restriction from your CDA, couse it's probably that in your country it's mandatory to make a sound (you pervert!)
So:
- If you have shutter silenced, will keep it silenced with new firmware
- If you have shutter activated, will keep it activated with new firmware

Another possible bug with R1N035 is incorrect signal display. It shows full bars down in our basement when there should be really no signal down there. It flashes "emergency calls only" but still full bars. Has anyone else experience this besides me? |

the thing i find annoying is the problem that the K750i had when it first came out, with the camera not saving the picture you see on the screen when taking a picture.
i take one, and the picture on the screen shows, but when the 'saving' part comes on, it is a different picture, which is no good!
anyone else notice this?
liek i said it happened with teh first K750i firmware, but was great on the next firmware! |

Another BUG: Random: sometimes when receiving text messages it just shows the envelope at the top and not a full screen "alert". |

Another bug i have found using R1N035, walkman media player crashes when trying to access my .m4a music files. I can play them if i go into FileManager and then sounds, but always crashes when i try accessing them through the media player. If i take the MSD out it stops the 'freezing' and returns to the media player screen, so the phone itself doesnt crash. However, theres no problems accessing .mp4 music files though. |
