I thought Pierce Brosnan was better

My first impression is that he doesn't really look the part. But that doesn't mean he can't play the part! I reserve judgement untill i've seen his first film, as I do with all new Bonds

But imo none of the new bond films (Pierce Brosnan) have been any good. So hopefully with a new star there write a better movie?

well... never heard of the guy... even thought I have briefly heard of the Layer Cake movie through advertising.
I did really think Brosnan was worth one more movie before he retired from the role.
Having said that, my only real experience of him before bond was remington steele which I thought was a crummy series so I was very much surprised at his first Bond performance in Goldeneye so I guess time will tell if the new guy fits the bill or not
