I get the impression however that the P990i's version of the UIQ interface will come with more sophisticated options, for developers and software.
Its possible thats why the P990i might come out after the M600i, but i doubt after the W950i, thats not coming to Q3 anyway.

the delay in the p990's release has really helped the o2 atom grab the market. it's selling better than it's predecessors at a little less than $1000 u.s. different os but very similar specs. |

No 3G, and no video calls though.
Also, no auto focus on the camera, and the screen says 262k, but only 65k "effective" - probably meaning it only uses 65k colours, and 262k when viewing pictures / videos.

Hi
I don't know if this is old news, but have you read the part IV of the MR review?
http://mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-p990part4-en.shtml
Some quotes:
"The camera is going to be changed, as well as its technical specifications, that's why there is no point in demonstrating video clips made with it."
"The release date of the model is the middle of July, and the price is still the same - 800-850 USD"

Yes, they were rather disappointed with the phone.
As for your quotes, i think he means the camera software still needs some work, rather than it being changed completely, rather than it being made 3mp or whatever you might think..
But then, have you also read the N80 review ? they were even more disappointed with that phone too, in fact, they've totally put me off buying the phone now.

As I said month before, the fon will not be out until March. Now that seems to slip. SE should have it announced at the Cebit next month. With an avg. life span of a fon of 2 years. Six month wait for it is too long. Many fones you can^t even buy anymore 18mo. after lauch. The P series phones usually hit US$ 450 as bottom price, then dissapear. The P910 is already there. I said a year ago, that se needs to hire a superprogrammer, who knows how to write fw. Because we in the US are screwed if we have fw trouble..

If so when?
Cheers

Most credible launch date rumour.

Therefore, we are looking at a Q3 availability unless there are further delays.

I think we will get a better idea after the Cebit.

From that link: Catering for "downtime" when traveling for business, the P990 smartphone also includes some entertainment applications....
LOL! The reality for most users, I think, will be: Catering for "downtime" between game playing or listening to music, the P990 has some business applications which users can bring up every once in a while to remind them of their lame justification for buying the phone in the first place.... |

I have noticed that Symbian phones have been getting poor reviews compared to Wm5 (generally). But my real world experience in the reverse, ie Symbian devices are less stressful to own and use. It is a bit strange... |
